Was it my thread or is my sill in someone else's thread? I like to see the install if possible. I have a thread in the "merchandise storefront" section where there is a e-74 full sill I show there. Actually there is a link in my sig

Kevin,

That snorkle is very, very cool. Of course, I would really expect nothing less from you.

I have the Safari snorkle on my LX, and I have always wished they had designed it just like yours, so one could still fold the windscreen down. Very nice.

Josh

You have been busy - sills in your store thread look great. Looks like the newer and the older - not the 76-78 (golden years :grinpimp:) yet?

It was not your thread but some other guy (also Canadian I think) and he said his was a prototype, etc. I'm not sure if he has "installed" pictures up at this point, can't remember who he is but you would?

At least my 40 now has the Awl_TEQ original sill - quite the collector's item I would think. :)

Josh - yeah, kinda silly to make a snorkel that prohibits folding the windscreen when the windscreen can and often does fold :meh:

Having said that.... I don't think I'll ever actually fold it down.... maybe once to see what it's like :hhmm:

Gus, yup, you got the very first one! The other fellow was from Ontario I believe. I have his name but can't think of it off hand. I'll have to look it up and see if he has a build thread. I'd love to see if it actually fits! I measured best I could but you never know!! :o

Thanks Dan, right-back-at-cha!

Don't know if I mentioned it but I have a toybox en-route from Marlin/ orangeFJ45 (Georg). Also full rebuild kits for - front axle - h55f - splitcase - rear axle - as well as a splitcase park brake from Oz. Oh, and a twin stick kit :D

But wait, there's more.... a full 60 front axle for front discs and an extra set of knuckles and backing plates for rear discs courtesy of 3_puppies (Paul) in Helena....ROAD TRIP!:bounce:

Almost got two ARB lockers too but decided I can wait till my bank account catches up! Gotta sell some snorkels!

VERY :censor: EXCITED!

Can't keep my mind on what I'm doing with out planning on installing those parts. Trouble is I won't be installing any of it till final teardown after I finish all the work in the cab (cage, dash box with gauges, seat mounts et-al)

Anyway here is some of todays puttering around...

This is what the blind nuts look like - they are pressed in and thus "captured", and being blind they are water tight

And lastly, a shot of the inside - there is another bolt hidden by the firewall.

I gotta say she's on there good. Pounding with your hand she feels very solid - no tinny feel to it. I grabbed it and shook it with two hands and the whole truck moved on the suspension. No movement between the snorkel and the cab at all. One could definitely push through the bush without worrying about the snorkel or use it as a hand hold when trying to walk on the fender to get the winch line:D

Kevin,

Not that it matters, but how much do you reckon they weigh?

Josh

They aren't very heavy. I could make them with thinner material but the welding gets slightly harder the thinner you go and this thickness allows more grinding and sanding to make it purdy.

I'll weigh one at work tomorrow.

Kevin

Are you using a spool gun on your MM180 at home or Tig welding the aluminum at work? Nice work on the welds.

Millar Tig Runer 350p at work - $8k machine. I will get a Tig at home but not till my build is done. Thats $3500 I can spend on my truck.

ummm, word of caution, the level of the oil must be lower than the return line entry point into the pan. the returning oil is not under pressure. if the line is blocked by the oil level then the oil will back up to the turbo and you will get oil past the turbo seals and real possibility of lack of oiling to the turbo.

talk to Alamo industries in your fair city to confirm my warning.

looks very nice though.

Turbo oil and water done. I have purchased the tubing required to finish the charged air line from the intercooler to the intake manifold. I'll do that next. I am also saving funds for a Marlin Toybox - I'm at 25% now and climbing. Also sourcing disc brake parts. I'm going all Toyota with IFS 4 piston calipers, vented LC rotors front and rear - I know, overkill on the rear - I like the Idea of the same parts front and back.

Oh yeah, I need to mount the waste gate actuator...

Thanks Wayne - I'll take a look at it with regards to the oil level in the pan.

I got the turbo from Alamo - I can throw a rock from my desk and hit their back door.... if there were no walls of course...

when i test the oil level in the pan i found it to be roughly 1" from the top lip.
next time your at Alamo, tell them Wayne the Land Cruiser guy that moved to Ontario says "Hi".

I tell'em hello for you

Is that 1" from the top while running?

I wonder how much oil gets sucked up to fill the galleries, lines, cooler etc :meh:
