I'm liking this thread more and more. Nice work.

Wow...Dude, just, Wow! :eek::eek::eek:

So, will there also be research as to the truck's backstory, where it was sold, who owned it, stuff like that? Just askin...

The quality of your work makes all this "eye-candy".

I am going to go back with the original color. Sky Blue.

I'll speak for M5driver and DSRTRDR as well as for myself here...."You couldn't have chosen a better colour."

(Completely unbiased opinion of course.)

The build looks awesome!!

Quick question about your brake calipers.

Did you rebuild the ones that you already had, buy remand ones from Toyota, or splurge and buy brand new?

Keep up the good work!!!

Re-manufactured from Toyota, but I also bought the rebuild kit and kept the old calipers. I lost the core charge. I didn't want the old caliper bolts to show. Sandblasting and painting was out of the question. And to answer another question about painting the calipers, I did buy blue caliper paint, but couldn't bring myself to painting over the new bolts.

Today I placed an order for a center arm rebuild kit, upper and lower bearings for the steering box, all seals required, nuts, bolts, gaskets, etc.; stainless brake lines, and stainless braided flex lines to complete the brake system. I guess I need to start looking at the exhaust system. I need a new muffler and tail pipe and all associated hangers.

Cool I just bought a pair of remand from Cdan for my 60. I think they are the same ones that fit on the 40. If they look as good as yours when they get here I'll be fired up!!

Where are you getting all of your hardware? Are you buying from Toyota sourcing it yourself?

My 78' 40 was the exact same color as yours until the PO put a cheap paint job on it. One day soon I hope to be doing exactly what you are so forgive me if I start killing you with question.

one more thing; jestlurnin; If you notice in previous photos, the wheel-stop nuts on the knuckle are re. Those are the wrong nuts!! The right nuts had to be ordered from Japan, they are flat on one side, so they fit snug on the tang. This photo shows the right nut. It is also zinc and not red plated.

I'm subscribed but if I keep watching, I'm gonna end up spending more on mine than I have:) Makes me want to overhaul mine but that'll be years in the making. You're doing it right! I respect it bro.
And yes, eye candy it is. Looking forward to gleaning from this build up. Thanks for the detailed posts.

Thanks for the heads up on the wheel stop nuts. That's the kind of info that is going to be mucho helpful when I'm trying to order all this stuff.

Glad you are suffering first!!!! Or should I say blazin the trail.

Keep it coming man I look at this thread whenever I get a sec throughout the day. Probably more than my boss or wife would like me to!!!
