They have about about ten years of history at this point. I do not know the details other than they work...and it will take take the 4.2L to 4.4L

Where are you with the pistons? (just found this thread) I too got those pistons from Jim and put in my Rig Oct of 23 - The oil rings I got, were harder than a Chinese abacus and I had an issues and ended up having to order different rings from Houston.

I can accelerate going up hill - not that you really need to do that, but got some oomph. You doing the chevy valves Jim C suggests to in the head?

still sitting in a box on the shelf. what rings did you end up with? im not sure if im doing the chevy valves or not. i need to get the garage cleaned up:
A. so i can get the '61 in it.
B. so i can that 2F out of the corner and maybe actually do something with it.

simpler to link over. Short version, installed what was sent by Jim, some starts/runs to check out - something not right - tore apart - almost spun a bearing (I screwed up on install) - but the oil rings that came with the pistons also broke - see picts -

The rings are made of different material - to match the ones that came with pistons would be a long time with the Houston brand (which is the brand Jim advertised would come with the pistons). I got these that were available in a week.

You may have better luck than me, ok you will - I will say the oil ring of Houstons went on way easer.

what rings did you start off with that were problematic?
I have Grants.
Edit
Ordered a set of the hastings.

something has been loudly protesting the last few miles....i thought it was the transfer, turns out it was the rear....not entirely sure what has gone south, but the pinion preload has gone up not down. going to hand it over to my guy and let him figure out what it needs. from my uneducated observation the ring and pinion seem fine.
