Klaus, here’s a close up. Looks like a U-bolt or something was there at some point in the past. Or some type of strap

Cut it all out snd start over! Does the pig already have a 12HT in it?
nope Mike. It has a Chrysler 318 with an automatic. I’m excavating it at this time. Where did you get frame mounts for your 12HT? I may have a lot of questions for you since this set up seems similar to the 40 series.

Jim the motor mounts came with my motor. I would recommend placing a WANTED add in the JDM section for 40 series 2H mounts. Our OZ brothers should be able to help locate them.

You know what Mike...the donor rig is very rusted but I checked and the mounts are in good shape. BTW. Went to the austin chapter monthly get together earlier today and a guy had a 45 with a 12HT. After seeing yours and his I have to do the same to mine one day when I get the time :)

x 2 for pulling the entire drivetrain and starting again. Engine, trans, mounts, axles, driveshafts, springs, trans tunnel - everything. Piss it all off into the corner and start again. None of it is stock anyway. Then it's 12H-T/H55/40 axle time.

Jim you'll want to find some factory frame mounts for it and some hj45 or hj47 block side brackets. Those will be the tricky ones to get a hold off. Think 2h powered 45 or 47 not the more common H powered variants.

Roma, factory 61 frame mounts, if so the donor 61 mounts are good. Or is there a different set I need for the 55 frame?

So I am figuring this out. The front axle is good with a 60 hub upgrade. Have to figure out a plan on the rear axle.

Another question for the 55 crowd. Have never been able to get the rear window up. Any suggestions on how to hot wire or where a switch may be? I turn the key on the back door and hear a click but no action. Thanks.

Hey Jim, check the "Iron Pig Preservation Society " forum here. There is some great info there and a write up on the troubleshooting steps for the rear window.

I have a 76 piggie so some dash stuff is different. I also have a near complete parts 55 that is a 1970. Shoot a pm if you need and pieces and hopefully I can help. I'm away from home til tomorrow night but would be happy to measure up whatever you need or get pictures of anything when I'm back.

Here's my 76.

Pat, that is a good looking 55 and appreciate the tip on the 55 preservation society. I’m copying my friend I’m helping out with this build (@pregister ) knowing we will need to source some parts. Once I finish demoing the truck we will start assessing the parts we need to locate. Will definitely hit you up at that point. Thanks again. Jim.

Factory 55 frame mounts is what you’re after not sure if they’re the same as 40. Or if you decide it’s easier for you to weld than source scarce parts use the 60 parts and weld/cut/fab them into the 55.

I think it is modified. Heres a pic from my parts '70 with the cover off of it.

Hey Pat, do you have the clutch pedal on the parts rig. The one I’m working on was converted to auto and all they did was remove the pedal, master and lines. I believe we will go with a soft line to make it easy. If you have it let me know what you need for it. Thanks. Jim

Electrical question...this white wire is what went to the starter. It’s obvious the PO modified the electrical. This wire seems heavier than what the stock would have been. Does anyone recognize the clip supporting wire? Also, I plan to keep this wire as it worked off the key with the V8 and should be fine with the 12HT. I’ll clean up the union as well. Tell me if you feel u need to look at other options. Thanks.
