My guess is flapper disk

That's a tough one.

My main preference is a 4 1/2" grinder with different discs... flapper, hard, cut off wheel.. Next choice is a 5" Makita with a 7" flapper, 7" hard disc or 6" cut off wheel. Then a pencil grinder with a round or christmas tree burr bit to get into really tight spots. Hell I've even used a popsicle stick with 40 grit wrapped around it before. ;)

Like I said, its depends, and I could use all of the above to get the result I'm happy with.

Looks great J! I am impressed with your skills!

I need some body mounts. Keeping in mind this is a stock restoration, would the set from Cruiser Corps be sufficient? http://www.cruisercorps.com/body-mount-set.html Or should I go OEM, assuming they still make them? I am just not sure if body mounts really matter in a stock resto......

funny, a local fella just clued me into them too. ordered a set of those from amazon. I love prime

Got home a little early and got the DS quarter corner on. Man this cold is whipping my ASS!.. I'm dead to the world right now. At least a little progress. Going to try to have the PS on tomorrow night and get the sill and bed pan squared away as well.

I've lost a little of my metal bending/rolling skills over the years. But, I'm happy with this side and how the sill lines up inside.

Beautimus Maximus!

Beautimus Maximus!

Thanks A

Very nice work going on there. Were you a auto body man, in a past life or just picked up as a hobby.

No Ron, picked up sheet metal work from roundy round dirt track racing with my cousins when I was younger. We'd race/rub on weekends and make it all pretty during the next week. Kinda stuck I guess. Welding has been with me since I was a kid. Never did auto body work for a living just a weekend/project novice at best.

Your piggie is coming along nicely too.

Another couple of hours in this afternoon...

I need to open up the PS seam a little, it was too tight. You can see it in the sill alignment pic #5 (sill lined up great though...). Nothing a .045" disc and 2 minutes of spot welding can't correct... Some would just roll with it and call it good, but I want a full penetration weld..

Anyhow.. It's coming along pretty well. Another couple hours of welding and I can start on the filler...

Spent the afternoon finishing the welding on the quarter corners, patching and dollying the entire rear quarters on the tub.

Turned out well. My old hands are done for a couple of days and my neighbors hate me too I think.... :flipoff2:

I welded the corner patches and then dollied the quarters once they cooled down. I'm really happy with the way this old metal bends and shrinks to where it needs to be.

Patched another hole I found, buttered it up, roughed the surface in and re-opened the hole to the proper size.

I'll go back over everything with a fine disc and 60 grit and then the first coat of filler.

How do you guys keep your garage's so clean?

I think I'm a garage slob... Or maybe it's too many kids :hhmm:

Johnny, the garage is a mess right now. The :princess: has been gone for almost 3 weeks so, the SLOB has come out in me. Ask Jas what my garage looked like when he first dropped Leo off.. SPOTLESS.. I hate a dirty work area. I sweep constantly when I am working on things. :meh:
