Discussion my plan of attack with Cowboy.

She told me to spit on my hands and just grab a fresh holt and go.

7MGTE from a MkIII Supra is what they’re referring to. Obviously not happening.

Nothing too “Supra” crazy with the engine. I do not want another truck that is gone from the house for too long. @FJ60Cam is going to build the engine and it will be a 2F block with a 3F head and some custom Carrillo pistons and rods. Hoping for a super high output straight 6 that maintains some of the original features and maybe even a period correct intake. @OGBeno found a nice NOS 3F head to go along with the other bits Cam is cooking up.

But then I thought I’d add the super cool @lcwizard 1/2 carrier.

First I pulled the cute Yoko spare

The only mod the 40 series swing needs for the 45 is a little grinding to clear the middle hinge

Done.

Some SWBs came with 1/2 doors and a 40 style spare carrier. John and I both love that look and the 4 Plus carrier fits the bill nicely.

a cop motor 2F and 5 speed is all it needs
I went for the H55 5-speed this time around. The last two 40’s have been 4-speeds but they also are running 3.70’s. This truck has 4.11’s and I do not really see a need to swap those out. This motor should also pair well with the 5-speed and 4.11’s.

I also like the H55 because I could just buy a new one. @orangefj45 set this truck up with a new transmission and new transfer case.

Tail light?

Just to be clear…..none of this stuff would be going down if the motor did not have a rod knock. I tried to not hear the knock. John tried not to hear it. This truck is fine. The install is fantastic. Clean. No corners cut.

That said, it’s gotta happen and while we have this thing here a few changes will be made that suit the new owner.

In short. The gutting has begun.

Before engine shots
