Read your post ^ and wanted to let you know that I undercoated my FJ with undercoat from the NAPA paint store. This stuff is sold in airisol cans and I was a little worried that it wasn't going to do the job. However, after a few weeks of set up, it's perfect. Easy to touch up too.

Would certainly want to do something similar, just don't want to apply an undercoat like that to primer (all I got on the bottom right now).

Hopefully it will quite the ride down a bit with the bedliner on inside and some sort of sound reducer / undercoat.

I actually applied the Undercoat on top of self etching primer and regular primer. It was all good!

Yea, I already got a powdercoat primer and corlar primer coat on the bottom.
Maybe I'm just too paranoid.

Did you apply your undercoating with tub on frame or off??

The tub was off the frame. I was going to Rhino line the uderside but decided against it. Too many things can damage the underside making it a potential waste of money, rhino lining. Eventually, I'm going to rhino line the interior for sound det, but it won't be for awhile.

I think the link may have changed for the 400 SBC test run video.

If the old link doesn't work try this one.

Also put it up on Youtube:

Thanks

I'll probably go the same route, and just do it all while the tub is off the frame.

Just thought I'd put a link up for this, maybe you might want to jump on it. One of these went for $521.00 On Ebay before.

Yup, I was surprised it sold for that much. I don't think the lettered bezel is even stock for my year anyway, so I think I'll stick with my fiberglass one. I was tempted by a chrome one I saw one time though :D

Few small updates.

Finally found some nice Stainless steel ARP bolts to put my ram horns up so hear are some pics. Not sure if it was needed, but I put some exhaust gaskets in that came with a engine gasket kit I got a while back.

Should be top coating with Imron, hopefully by next week.

Need to finish up the tub and do some sort of undercoat, then I can put that on the frame. Already got other body parts ready to go.

Does anybody know a source for metric inserts. I need to put some in for the doors???

If you want to order hex bolts & nuts, like I installed, you can order them though Remco Bolts. I think I got the entire bolt package for my cruiser for $45 (all hex) lock nuts and washers included. You can reach REMCO at 505-247-0454. My are black oxide coated, they also have stainless steal (slightly more expensive).

May I also suggest getting high temp gasket (sold in sheets), the thickest you can buy, and cut out to fit the all the hinges and metal to metal to metal parts.

Your paint will thank you for it.

What do you intend on running for steering? Let me know becasue I got mine completly together and it works great.

Finally got to paint a color other than white :D

Painted the firewall and underneath with Imron 1950 Chrysler Black. Came out pretty nice; I was pleased.

Got to have bedliner put on the inside now, and a little Ziebart work done on the underneath. Then I'm gonna have put this thing on the frame. I sure would like to install my MAF gas tank w/o the tub on, but I'm still waiting for it to ship.

Did put a couple coats of POR15 on the stock gas tank this weekend though, don't have any pics, but it came out slick.

Here are some trailer pics...

I got Mini-Truck p.s. set up right now. Little worried about it with the to come 35s, if it turns out to not be adequate I'll probably have to look in the saginaw or scout p.s. direction.

Your project is coming along. I was reading a previous post of yours in regard to the MAF gas tank. I got tired of waiting too and decided to take the advice of another forum member and order a tank from these guys. http://www.nwmp.com/fueltanks.asp You'll save a lot of money if you go this route. The tech that works there is very, very helpful.

It took them a week to build and it will be shipped early next week.

Finally got the tub mounted onto the frame.

It was quite a chore with only two people to do it, me and my son. Used one of those superlifts on the rear which is basically a manual powered fork lift. Then hung two straps from the rafters in my shop and hung a couple come-a-longs from them. Then ran a strap underneath the tub from one come along to another. Raised it up off the trailer, rolled it out, rolled the frame right underneath, lowered her down.

Mounted the tub up with a new polyurethane body mount set from Energy and it was a nice little kit.

Also got the mini-truck p.s. all set up now, did the whole steering column cut and weld thing. Now I got to just paint the column brackets and column and I'll be able to mount it permanately.

Also got some stainless braided brake lines made here locally. Once I get the hard lines put together I'll actually have brakes.

Pretty exciting to know that with just some brakes, throttle, and tranny shifter in I can drive this thing around a little.

So I guess yall want to see some pics now. Enjoy

Here is a link to a sweet high def pic.
