I’ve been thinking/itching/wanting to do a “version” (reasonable facsimile) of a 45. Finding a “roller” is somewhat problematic.

I’m a bit of an outlier on the topic of pursuing vehicles, esp. cruisers. I’ve had/have a number of them, but they all came about out of reaction versus pursuit. I had a functional need or desire and an available cruiser filled that need, across the board. Could have been a Scout, Bronco, even a Jeep (ranch has very early one that is still in use, but significantly payload restrictive). Only my ‘97 FJ80 comes close to being a known desired pursuit, knowing I needed a long-lasting fully capable, sufficient capacity (this was before the ubiquitousness of the term “SUV” filled the mall parking lots with lookalikes) vehicle for daily and long haul transportation. ~315k miles later and still going strong as our principal transportation the “new” cruiser was the right choice. Just for perspective on my focus on functionality as the key motivator of my vehicle ownership I traded in a Porsche 944 for the ’97 (in ‘97) - I was no longer single, and you really can’t drive a Porsche appropriately in Seattle.

So with that diatribe firmly planted in the bowels of infamy on Mud 😂 good luck @Chungas Revenge with finding a 45 roller. This section is definitely the best to hang out in & get to know folks (as well as classifieds) as these folks who live and breath 45s may have insight into the last great 45 sitting in someone’s barn or back pasture. Or maybe a several month-long road trip out west in Oregon, Nevada and northern Cali would result in that random path-crossing with the next mule for the stable. If you do road trip it through/around Sweet Idaho stop by, the beer’s cold and the cans/bottles are dusty, along with everything else 😀.

Year‘s over, cows are out of the upland dryground. Last run for Possum picking up remnant salt and dustbags. Maybe I’ll wash it now.

Nah.

Sure, as a local commuting vehicle say to the fire station, hauling trash on trash day, or such, but the need for it for ranch work is done until next spring. I could tow a horse trailer with it but I have a Ford F350 for that which is better suited. I might haul some gravel, straw or compost for the garden winterization, we’ll see. I use my 40 for the dogs for bird hunting ‘cuz there’s more room inside for them and I‘m not a fan of hauling dogs, esp. anxious bird hunting dogs, in the open bed of a truck. I’ve seen too many lost, displaced and injured dogs that exited the bed while in motion when a covey of game birds takes flight along the road. And also not a fan of dog crates, my dogs are spoiled. I just have to clean the inside of the 40 after they’ve seriously mudded it up 😂.

I love seeing these old trucks being rebuilt/refurbished to be used! The full blown restorations are great and all but I really appreciate those who still work their trucks!
