An old kitchen shear did a fine job of cutting the hole out of the new gasket.

I've been quietly wondering how you were going to weld that up without melting or deforming the gasket. Looks like it came out fine.
A broken heart to the crack of dawn....one call welds it all....its only metal, we can out think it.

Just enough drill bit to get rid of most of the spot weld. Those spot weld hole saws remove way more metal than what needs to be. Then the welder can be set a bit hotter than would normally be for the thickness...hot and fast.
You can see the tiny heat effected zone on the top side, but hardly anything on the outside. I had one spot on the right most end that was crusty rusty and washed out on me when the fire was applied....I got a whiff of toasted rubber on that one.

The tub is in doors....and it was far more of a chore than it looks.
Had a 60series frame in there that moved out doors.

Mine is a 5/66-6/66 frame and it has some bracing and a bracket. I'm not sure when these were added. I don't see the rivet holes on your frame so I assume after 61. Crusty pics for reference.

Found some hinges ....they need some love, but that's then, this is now now. Time figure out what I'm doing to clean the adaption of the later windshield frame up.
I thought about just trying to replace it with a correct version, but I dont feel fighting that battle, plus this one has been on here for probably as long as I've been alive, if not longer.

I know the way the front bumper attaches is different than later years. It has the top triangle pieces but not the frame stays, on the sides, and has a different bracket for the bottom attachment point. I wish I had a picture.

Windshield hinges, is this really a thing with them?....broken pins.
Both my original set, and a replacement set clean broken.
Removing the pin parts proved to be incredibly difficult...to the point i bent the plate in the process.
So on to plan b.
I found some mechanical tubing that matches the od of the oe hinges, so it's off to the races.
Not set on the fasteners yet, but for now the shcs will work.
I have not had a decent excuse to set the 215 up for tig in a while, but it's the best way to throw a clean little bead around these guys.

Good job on the rebuild. The door hinge pin works great on the windshield hinge, just cut it shorter and I then peen/round off the end with a hammer to get close to the OEM look

That was part of plan a....but was unable to remove the oe pins.
Left side is a complete success.
