Maybe round the edges of the 4 buttons to closer mimic the OEM buttons below?

Would there be an option to make it in black like your render?
I realise the OEM is silver. However, would blend in better with the black vents and most likely black double din unit which will go in above.
Main problem is having to colour match the lower section where your unit will fit into.

Anyway, it’s looking great as it is!

Quick visual update.
These are still concept renders, not the final production unit, but this is the current direction being explored.

A few changes based on feedback:
  • Larger physical buttons
  • Cleaner, more symmetrical layout
  • AUTO moved to the temp knob push function
  • Fan speed, mode, temp, AUTO, A/C, recirc, and defrost status moved to the LCD
  • Standalone LED indicator stacks removed to reduce clutter
  • LCD kept as the central status display

The current control concept is:

Temp knob:
  • Rotate = temp up/down
  • Push = AUTO on/off
  • Press and hold = °F/°C or secondary settings
Fan knob:
  • Rotate = fan speed up/down
  • Push = fan/system off
Dedicated buttons:
  • A/C
  • Recirc
  • Front defrost
  • Mode

Spending time on this now is because once the faceplate, PCB outline, button placement, diffusers, and mechanical stack-up are locked, changes become much more expensive and time-consuming. I would rather absorb the extra design time now than rush into a layout that works electrically but feels wrong in the truck.

The main thing I’m trying to balance is OEM feel, button usability, clean appearance, and keeping the controls intuitive enough that you do not need to think about them while driving.

Still very much in development, but the overall direction is getting cleaner.

Tell me, does this look like something that belongs in the 100 Series dash?

Liking this a lot. Looks well-suited to the interior and the layout seems logical and simple.

The only thing that @Anarchy is changing is replacing the stereo in #5 for HVAC controls.
Everything else will be unchanged. However, this WILL require you to install an aftermarket head unit, or relocate the stereo unit.
I believe the intent is to be able to remove everything above the Security/Temp display, allowin for the use of aftermarket trim kits that will fill the gap left and affix a new head unit.
It doesn't look like @Anarchy went with any of your plans.

Is the security strip #3 (circled in light blue) a separate piece from the main nav console? In my 2006 it looks to be part of the main navigation unit #1 (circled in pink), not a separate unit.

I hope this provides some clues.

what is going on with the theft ecu if that's the case?

If possible. Having a usb type C port would be a nice little modern touch.

Some aftermarket units may keep the temp bar, some may not.
This is mine. The temp bar came out with the screen.
Can anyone confirm if the temp/security bar is part of the main navigation unit for 2006 LC, or if it’s a separate unit that could be maintained? I’m just trying to understand if the navigation unit and temp/security bar always comes out together with navigation when swapping to a aftermarket unit or if it’s optional to keep it. I ask because one my truck It looks like one large integrated part, not two separate parts.

The waitlist is now live.

No preorder, no payment, and no obligation. This is just to track real interest, vehicle fitment-compatability-region, and beta testing availability as the prototype moves toward real-world validation.

I've been lurking this thread since the beginning and then got distracted with other things. Just now seeing this and my only regret is not signing up for the waitlist sooner. ;)

@Anarchy - first, kudos on the incredibly impressive work and public service you're doing for the community. The mock-ups look fantastic and I love how you're going for a factory look. One thing I might suggest for better readability, especially in the dark, would be to use an LED or OLED display instead of the LCD display type that's currently in the mockups.

Is this the Teyes head unit? Asking because I'm leaning that direction (looking seriously at the CC4 Pro that recently came out) and wanted to know what you think and whether it's negatively affected the sound quality of the Mark Levinson factory system.

I really like the latest version- what happens to the security light/outside temp/clock strip? (Blue #3 in image)

What owners choose to do with the head unit afterward is intentionally flexible. Some may install a modern double-DIN with CarPlay/Android Auto. Some may keep certain OEM components. Some may go full custom. This project is fundamentally about restoring freedom to the HVAC system rather than forcing one specific audio/navigation configuration.

I get that, but my question is doesn’t the security module that flashes a red light when the truck is off need to be preserved/incorporated somehow? Or no???

Yes the security indicator needs to be preserved or relocated, physically it lives in the same general center-stack area, so it has to be accounted for in the final install

edit: does not according to some, i am inclined to agree with them.

Yes, it's T'eyes CC3 2k.
I can't speak on how it affects the OEM stuff. My previous owner had added some nice aftermarket speakers and an amp. It was kind of a Frankenstein situation. I added the T'eyes and removed all the leftover OEM parts. It sounds great now. 😎

The T'eyes is barely passable, the HVAC on the screen is a giant pain in the ass. When Anarchy finishes this and the T'eyes no longer has to handle HVAC, I will give it a C+.

I will be looking for a double din solution from a name brand in the near future.

thanks @Anarchy, my question, and not sure who would be able to confirm this: Is the security/temp section integrated into the oem navigation unit or is it a separate unit that could be retained with a smaller custom bezel at users choice? On my 2006 LC it all appears to be part of one large form factor with a fake part line on the bezel to create the illusion of it being a separate unit. So I’m wondering how one would opt to keep it, if its part of a larger navigation combo unit. I did notice in the oem non-navigation versions that some are sourcing from abroad, that security/temp module moves to the top of the stack, rather than below the navigation.
