I was concerned the smaller V8 would struggle a bit. I am considering selling the 80 and the 100 and getting a nicer and newer 100. Or keep the 80 and buy an older tow rig pickup. I'm running out of room to store all my vehicles.

I'll look for the article.

All you need is airbags and/or good springs in the rear.
I run Slee and they are best all round I've found so far
Always keep the tranny fluid fresh; some trailer brakes and life is good.

Any of you ever tow a 40 with a 100 series? How bad is it? Considering all options for a tow rig.

My 80 is not an option for towing it. I hauled it back from Butch's after the crawl with the 80 and it was brutal.
Truth be told, driving an 80 on a trip - with anything but stock tires - is sort of brutal by itself! :D

Thanks for the input. I love my 80 and don't really want to get rid of it. Just have to decide on a plan. Decision decisions.

Battery died this afternoon. Shows 12.3 V but truck won't crank. Truck is at the house and has to be running by Monday morning therefore no time to source Slee tray. I don't have $300 for the Sears battery anyway. What's the next best plan for battery upgrade? My starter is less than 2 years old, surely hope it's not that.

Not sure the battery is your problem. Have you tried to jump start it with a known good battery? What does the voltage do when you try to start the truck?

call me if you need a Bat. I can get you a deal on a interstate to get you by.

I had the same problem...turned out to be a fuse that was hidden by a wiring loom.
