I'm gearing up to baseline my 165k miles 02' LX470 that I purchased last month, and first on the list of things is replace pads/rotors, because there is a strong pulsing/vibration under medium (or heavy) braking, especially once the rotors are a bit hot. To me that suggests warped rotors...
2000 LX 123K miles with original bearings and grease. I found lock nuts were only hand tight. And I noticed end of the axle shaft near flange has blued color likely from heat.
I will clean and repack. Is there anything else I should check when I am in there?
Photos are from disassembly before...
I'm not sure what the factory spec is for servicing/greasing those components.
The swivel hubs as we know are not a sealed space.
Tail/prop shafts can be a pita if grease nipples on them and uni-joints are in an awkward position.
I'm not sure about what the spec is for wheel bearing service...

Definite play 6-12, but harder to tell if there is any 3-9, mainly because there's also a bit of slop in the steering? Not a lot, and I think that's normal, because it was the same on the driver side, but I have no idea.
So if it was mainly along the vertical, would that mean LBJ? I'm planning...
Hi all - took my 100 series (277,xxx) to get an inspection today and they told me that I had to replace tie rods, ball joints, driver's side wheel bearing, and CV to pass. Feels like this is "most of the front end" although it goes down the road straight with no vibration etc. I'm wondering what...
First post since getting a LC, go easy on me. I purchased a 2000 LC in August at 177k and am going through some baselining. So far I have gotten the TB/WP completed using an Aisin kit, lower ball joints, and inner and outer tie rods. Currently at 183k. This has all been a learning experience for...
I ordered new OEM front hubs which includes bearings so I don't need these kits. Fits all 1998-2007 IFS LC/LX. This kit uses Timken bearings. Also included are spindle bushings and a C-clip kit from Cruiser Outfitters. The parts in total are $212.50 + shipping on Cruiser Outfitters' website...
I plan on replacing my front brake pads this weekend. In the process I also plan on resurfacing the rotors. Might as well give the hub some attention as well.
If the parts aren't destroyed, would I need to replace the bearing seals, bearings, gaskets, etc in the hub or can I just repack?
As...
There is a strange noise coming from the front of my 2005 cruiser, it is intermittent and seems to happen at lower speeds when letting off the accelerator.
The noise is like a rub/light scraping sound, and is rotational.
I found a video on youtube which sounds extremely close to what I am...
We need to replace the bearing on the front passenger side of our 93. I have a friend who is going to help me who has done bearings on other vehicles but not on a Land Cruiser. Any tips or advice? Links to helpful threads? Thank you!
Hi Mudders,
Looking for your experiences with wheel bearing replacement and how well they held up. I'm personally reluctant to buy China for fear of failure like I've seen in friend's vehicles.
I'm hearing some major brands (SKF, Timkin) are manufacturing in China so I'm wondering if the...
So I was going down a mountain hill the other day and when hitting the brakes noticed a pretty decent wobble. Also, when turning sometimes I've heard/felt a slight click/thunk. I did a knuckle job on my driver's side last year.
I jacked the wheel up, and got some wiggle when flexing with my...
had a full wheel bearing and rarer drum brake rebuild done by one of my mates and we shot this how to video, might be useful if anyone is getting stuck into this. My mate Richard used to work with MH motorsports in the rally championship in Uk and he knows some handy tricks.

After doing birfields, I also replaced the TREs now Ive been gearing up for a long distance road trip so Birfields drove it fine, replaced TRTEs and now it pulls to passenger a bit. BUT to be safe I rechecked wheel bearings and they seems good to go. ALL KOYO bearing and races.
