Installing a charcoal canister into my de-smogged 2f. It seems straight forward but I am trying to figure out where this fitting goes to? I think it should go to a hard line that goes into the engine bay. But I can’t find it. Does the hard line run under the tank? First picture is of the fitting...
I took what I thought was pretty good pics of how things were prior to disassembling everything. Apparently, I didn't get good pics of where this vacuum line went. This is on a 1973 FJ40. I have narrowed this down to going to the charcoal cannister on the passenger side. From the other pics...
Got two charcoal canisters. $20 plus shipping for pair.
#1. Charcoal canister off a f155 motor in a very early 70s fj55. Should be same for fj40. Comes with bracket. Bottom hose cracked.
#2. Cannister for 84-89 Toyota pickup and 4runner. No bracket.
Working on my dad's 83 fj60 at the ranch.
New behavior hard to start, no choke cable, but been that way for years.
Plan was to blow out idle passages on carb, replace, ratty vac lines and spray a bunch of cleaner in carb.
Air cleaner lid pulled to get at carb. Is wide open.

We got to the mountains a little while ago. Easy FS road. Started smelling gas. Pulled over to find the CC buzzing and venting. Am I ok to drive it this way. I’ve worked on cars a long time, but this is a first. Any input is appreciated.
I have a friend with a '95 80 I was hoping to get some help with. The fuel filler neck had just just been replaced after running for a very long time with holes in it. Here is the description of the problem:
"We got fuel in it, ran it for a bit and then sitting overnight we have fuel dripping...
I'm going to relocate my charcoal canister from the OEM location to next to the driver side chassis rail or on top of the tranny cross member. I need that space for other things, now that my ABS is gone.
I'm curious if anyone is using a different style of canister, perhaps a rect shape from a...
Hi, I have a 1FZ-FE and believe the charcoal canister is blocked. Bad fuel economy and over/under pressure when opening the fuel tanks for filling.
Has anyone experienced a blocked canister and how negatively did it effect your fuel economy?

There is nothing wrong with this part - it is basically brand new. I just preferred the fitment of a Toyota part so it was replaced with a different charcoal canister.
Changing the charcoal cannister on my 60 for an A/M model similar to one many others have posted with before. I understand plumbing for the reduction of the 4 vents to the two included on the new A/M cannister and have fresh hoses ready to go.
When taking of the hoses, the Outer vent control...
