Thinking about buying the Tube doors from Solid Rock for the 40...

Claudia feels a bit uncomfortable without doors...

We will see....

Jims doors at SROR, are SOLID, and well laid out. You can't go wrong with those puppies!

Cool, I really liked the look of them...after a year of never spending on the 40 it has finally become priority number 1!

Call or E-mail MT, they have not added them to the site, but they are out there and available.

you should have read this thread, tells you all you need to know: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=98147

Metal Tech seems to be the only company actually producing them. Solid Rock started on a pair, never went to production.

Just ordered Metal Tech myself.

Metal Tech does not have them on the site. Just talked with Mark yesterday. There are several posts here on Mud that have photos - other than the green ones in this thread.

This thread has orange and green mounted up: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=155942

this thread has black on red rig mounted up: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=161054

Great! seems to come up often enough these days.. nice to have a central place to go for tube door data.

AND, since MT seems to be the only ones really doing them (at the time of this post), I finally tracked down some hinges - stripped and painted them up - and ordered the MT doors Monday. So, after years of searching on this topic and calling Jeep tube door makers and such, I will finally own a pair myself! :bounce: will post up a full install and photos when I get them this weekend.

not just searching, but I have been staying on top of this specific topic for years now... trying to keep it going (calling and emailing jeep tube door makers and researching all the claimed and rumored FJ40 tube door makers, etc) and praying someone would step up and make them for the 40 like they do for the Jeeps (which have about 5 styles to select from and are dirt cheap in price due to mass production).

watch for my MT tube door install coming soon.

yup. M/T beat me to them.
i need to budget my time better for new products.
tube doors went on the back burner after the rear 60 bumper took off!!

but in the process i took a poll on how you all wanted them to mount to the hinge.
seemed like no one wanted to use the factory hinge that bolts to the door.
so alot of work went into designing a pin mount.

looks like a re-design on the hinge is in store and i'll make the latch as simple as possable and change my pricing.

so it looks like simple is better in the door biz.

here you go
best pic I have

I loved your design. one of my fav's I saw. BUT... you never went into production on them - I think you got into bumpers IIRC. we even exchanged a few PM's a few times way back to see if you would make me a pair.. but never heard back on moving forward. :( I like them though.

pencil me in - if possible, I would like them to match up to stock hinge and stock striker so I can keep my hard doors, too

The reason why we went with the door hinge design was for mis alignment issues. We all know that every 40 is not straight no matter how clean it is. After 30 years of road abuse sheet metal is going to tweak. Using the door hinge allows for the most adjustment, so if one side is a 1/8" off then you can make up for that.
