Remove the sensor plug, remove the screws holding the MAF sensor in place, and gently pull it out. You'll do just fine with a screwdriver and a little curiosity.

I have the whine/groan in cold weather, too. It's not related to the clock spring - at least, replacing the clock spring didn't fix it for me!

I noticed a more nicer, more comfortable ride when going from 20" stock LX wheels (Defender LTX 285/50/20) to 18" LC wheels (Defender LTX 275/65/18) YMMV, but I wish I had done it years earlier.

Notice that the hitch isn’t locked either, so the ball can exit the hitch if it drops down too low. I did this in case I experienced this issue. Last thing I wanted was to be stuck in low and unable to get the tongue jack folded back out.
