    Did you ride today?

Took the 80 in for it's annual road worthy inspection (and also to work out if I need to get the swivel hubs done... yes...) and to get to work I lobbed the big yellow bike on the rack. Pic of big yellow bike for reference: Now I've done, it's got me thinking about how I use that bike - it's...

    Dogs of MUD!

They were just being hopeful. They got nothing and promptly thrown back outside. They are still in need of a bath, but it's too cold (hence one with a coat on) to do that at the moment. They were both stoked yesterday when we had a morning thunderstorm come through as that meant they could come...

    Did you ride today?

Post popped up on one of the local(ish) mountain bike buy, swap and sell pages with someone looking for a QR 29er 6 bolt disc rear wheel... I ignored it, as I didn't think I could help - they're 3.5 hrs away. Turns out a friend was up visiting this weekend from there, and I thought she'd gone...

    Dogs of MUD!

The old dog is the pain here, she barks at everything (fox and cats mainly) given a chance... which then sets the other dog off (and he doesn't have an off switch)... so she's on a chain over night on the verandah now. Boy dog is very good at barking at what he needs to - I went out the gate to...

    Did you ride today?

Quick 20km loop out to the mountain bike trails on the big yellow bike. Worked out I didn't have the clutch engaged on the mech, so got a load of chain slap last ride(s) and have chipped the paint on the stay :( 3 other Discoveries: 1) Seat post still slips 2) Saddle clamp knurls are knackered...

    Dogs of MUD!

Our 2 just smell feral at the moment, and are only allowed in to provide a self-guided vacuum service... or at least one does that, the other goes to the bit near the fire they know is a bed and just lies there watching the 8 month old bub (who has created the need for the vacuum service by...

    Did you ride today?

Good ride (35km) today, with some nice climbing in it. Really quick run out (first 5km were about on par with riding the road bike!) aided by a good tailwind... but because it was out and back, I had the headwind on the way back! Really see the yellow/orange here, which I've not been able to...

    Did you ride today?

And... the solution for the moving saddle was to read the torque setting on the seatpost.... 160 in/lb (18NM) torque needed. The torque setting was on the seatpost, just under the bolt... and translated to FT... I did it up with my long allen keys but that wasn't enough once I put the torque...

    Did you ride today?

Took the new bike out for a spin today; the local club were doing a road ride finishing at a brewery, so I arranged for my return transport to meet me there after I did my own ride meeting them there as well. A few technical hitches showed up as this was the shakedown ride; the seatpost needs...

    Matchbox 40

I missed those over here in Australia; went in and there was one from the series left and they've not restocked!

    Did you ride today?

Bike came home today after a visit to the shop for the hoses, steerer, and cable to be trimmed It's hard to get all the handlebar in the shot!

    Did you ride today?

Bike dropped in for brake hose trim (only 50mm off, so not a lot - leaving long to clear bar bag) and steerer tube cut down (adding one more spacer to the stack as well). Should be back at the end of the week.... It does look good though all built up now:

    Did you ride today?

I've got the lower rise version on my hardtail, and have found them to be great. As you say the bends look good positions, and I may yet wrap some road bike tape there to give me some positions inboard. It's going to be the upright bike I wanted it to be, but it's still playful and will trail...

    Did you ride today?

Bits arrived today... of course after I had left work (admittedly for a funeral) but the logistics guy lives on the route home, so a detour there to pick up the parcel and it was build the last bits up before final fit out: 50mm of spacers for the steerer tube, then get that cut down, put star...
