I've got over 30k on my Icon and I've run it real hard in the desert in 100+ degree temps, bottomed out multiple times, hard enough to crack the fender and my Icons are holding up great so far...I'm not looking forward to rebuilding, but if you are going to abuse a Dobinson like an Icon, it...
Thanks for the clarification, that's exactly what I was thinking was needed, but the brace I received already has that cut out but it does not fit since my brace is 37" and my frame is 36" I.D. so I would have to cut the brace ends off remove some material and re-weld. I'm thinking I may have...
Could you please let me know what you modified to make it fit? The Toyota V8 transfer case brace I ordered is 1" too long to fit in-between my frame rails. Did you shorten the brace to make it work? Thank you for any feedback!
Where will you be getting the Kaymar from? That's disappointing to hear about the MetalTech. I wanted something that I could still keep a decent tow capacity.
@2fpower that's a lot of hard work under your rig, very impressive. I wanted to get RCI but they don't make the complete kit? Budbuilt isn't ready to release theirs yet, but that will be the whole deal.
I have volks on my car and they are great for road use. They are too pretty for screwing up, so I went with FN wheels and have scratched all 4 of up on rocks. Just depends what you want to do with them.
I went with base since wheeling was going to happen. It still has KDSS and the suspension kits work with it as long as you don't go over 3". If you are thinking long travel, a 4runner without KDSS would probably be an easier platform to modify. 33" are the largest you can fit without going...
I'd recommend 17" if you are going to off road a lot. I went with www.fnwheels.com because they are forged and hub centric, meaning lighter and stronger than original with OE fitment. The wheels have been awesome and have held up to some real abuse. There are plenty of other options in 18 or...
I believe all the 2010+ gx460s are standard with KDSS. The front has Icon tubular upper control arms and the rear has Icon billet lower trailing arms. The rear were not necessary, they just came with the kit and ended up adding additional headache since Outlaw Offroad didn't install them right.
