What’s on those rings isn’t scars, it’s all corrosion and goes deeper than what it looks like. Media blasting them would get the best long term results.
It's going to be very hard to make those look new. You can scuff them up and paint them but that corrosion will show up again in a short time. If you remove all of the corrosion to try and make sure it doesn't come back anytime soon, you'll be so deep into the ring that it will be noticeable.
Just trying to keep it as new as possible without getting into the 2016+ realm. I lost the brake booster in my 100 series a couple months back and have a new found appreciation for hand brakes. Also not a fan of the mouse pad on the newer ones.
I'm looking for a 2013 to 2015 LX that doesn't have any rust. Anywhere in the US is fine as I don't mind travelling and have plenty of miles on a few different airlines.
Nebula Gray, black, or white for the exterior.
Black only for the interior.
Under 100k miles
Under $35k.
Clean title with no...
Thanks. A repainted bumper isn't a deal breaker for me as it is a 10 year old vehicle, as long as it appears to be quality work. Ultimately, I'm hoping it's either a diamond in the rough or a complete POS with a nice detail job. It's the ones in the middle that scare me. They look good, smell...
Thoughts on pricing?
I'm looking at a 2014 LX with 95k miles later this week. Following ratings are all from pictures obviously as I haven't seen it in person yet.
9.5 Interior
9.0 Exterior
8.5 undercarriage
Priced at $30k seems fair but it has some unknowns. It's been in and around NYC...
Slightly off topic but has anyone installed a LC non cool box arm rest? That would solve the issue of the sliders breaking and give a bit more storage in the top section.
I use a Harbor Freight one for my kids CRF125 big wheel. No basket but it works well enough. I’ve found that using turnbuckles to the foot pegs is much more stable than straps.
Pricing on sub 100k mile MY 13-15 LX’s is a bit random. Cars.com has listings from $28k to $46k. $35k isn’t unreasonable if everything else checks out.
Same scenario for me. While my 100 @ 226k miles has plenty of life left, I'm thinking it's a good time to get another 10 year old Cruiser.
I've always preferred the looks of the LC over the LX so last week I took advantage of trying out these two specimens back to back since they were next door...
First step is to seal up your 3rd brake light if you haven't already. Water leaks in around that then sits in the low areas of the hatch. Second, is to see how bad the rust is. Pop the license plate light out and take a look inside. They just slide to one side then the opposite side will come...

I did this to mine. Not super pretty but it's quite functional. Maybe someone with a 3D printer could bake a much better base than my sheet metal one.
Anyone in the EWR area willing and able to do a basic PPI on a LX570? I’m willing to pay for your time. I’m in Maine and would like to have a set of eyes on it before booking a flight.
Thanks
Being in the northeast, I undercoat mine every year or two. I'd think that if you could pressure wash from the bottom, let it dry, then take some pictures, it would help. While I love a fresh undercoating, it does hide whatever rust might be there and makes me leery when shopping.
I can't comment based on size with 3rd row installed but I will say that you should probably skip the Duo version. Not for a lack of quality, just for a lack of sleep. Get two singles and put them next to each other. I purchased a Duo first and loved it. After a few nights, my wife and I both...
