Toyota 80 mechanical winch manual and hints

The drive shaft is exactly in the same place as the original one on the 40. I don't understand why it's better if it wraps from above the drum. My fear is that the aluminum winch casing is not made to work in reverse.

Toyota 80 mechanical winch manual and hints

Here I am again, now I have to decide whether to cut the bumper or build a frame over the bumper. The easiest and most beautiful thing in my opinion is to cut the bumper and put a synthetic cable hawse guide. The red mark is exactly the position in axis of the cable on the drum pulled from...

Toyota 80 mechanical winch manual and hints

I managed to completely disassemble the winch. I replaced the bearings in the worm gear, but now there are too many shims (1,3mm), and there's too much play. With a 0.5mm shim, it's too tight, and with a 0.75mm shim, it's slightly loose. Should I leave a slight play? My other initial question...

Toyota 80 mechanical winch manual and hints

Hello all, I'm looking to rebuild a mechanical winch and I'm wondering how to take it apart. Does anyone have a manual? Also, I'm thinking of installing the winch so the cable comes out from the bottom instead of the top. Does this sound feasible? I'm a bit worried that the front of the winch...

    Relocate rear axle

I want to move the rear axle of my BJ42 back 5cm. What are my options? If I drill a new hole in the plate welded to the axle where the leaf spring center pin goes, will it work? The axle will be anchored further back on the leaf spring; will this affect the spring's performance? Thank you

The engine exhaust is on the right; from there, the pipe runs under the footboard support, staying outside the frame. At the rear, it passes between the leaf spring and the frame, goes over the axle, then turns to the left. The barrel is in the center, it continues all the way to the left, and...

the exhaust pipe passes exactly where the original one passed. Only the final part comes out straight behind without going on the left side. If you need photos I'll send them to you

    42 months of work

I used the 70 transmission, modified the 4x4 actuator from pneumatic to lever. To install the engine and gearbox, the engine mounts need to be redone and the cross member that supports the gearbox moved backwards. The cardan shaft needs to be shorter. The power steering is from 70 as is the...
