Project idea: Modifying this panel for compressed air & water outlets (need hinge advice!)

Hi everyone,


I'm planning a new project and I'd like to get your feedback and advice.


I want to modify this specific part [ photo] so that it can be opened. Inside, I plan to install quick-connectors for both compressed air and water (to use for an outdoor shower or other purposes).


What do you think about this idea?


Also, does anyone have a solution for the opening mechanism? A simple hinge won't work here because the panel needs to articulate outward first, and then rotate/swing open to clear the edge.


Any suggestions on what kind of hinge or mechanism I should look for? Thanks in advance!

Hello,
your hinge problem is quite complex, the hinge motion reminds me some kitchen furniture hinges. I doubt that thoses hinge will survive in an automotive environnement. Why not using some retening system who need to be pressed to be realised a kind of spring loaded system. The panel remain in place until you apply pressure then it will realise from it's resting postion and fall, or with a magnet?
