Jury is still out on long-term but in the short-term the Nitto Terra grappler G3s have been very quiet for me. They are make in the 285/70r17 and 285/75r17 in both C and E load. I’ve enjoyed them so far.
Not ideal but might be worth trying to find one at a junkyard? $900 is a lot and you might just get lucky to find one that matches and works. I’m sure it’ll be like finding a needle in a haystack but at least wanted to mention it!
Based on what you said I’m sure the consensus will be the Michelin’s. You don’t need the KO3s unless you want the aggressive AT look. I switched to the Nitto trail grappler G3s as a kind of middle ground between the KO3s and Michelins and they are quiet. But it seems the Michelins would serve...
I wouldn’t. Subjective but I think the 34”s fill out the wheel well better. Yes, they are heavier, yes they are more expensive, yes you need to do some small adjustments in then front but I just can’t go back to 33” now. Haha
I’m running 285/75r17 on +25 offset. I had to pin the front fender liner slightly forward as the tires are 33.8” tall. The two sizes you provided above are 33” and just under and should fit fine without any modification as your wheels are very slightly more out than stock (60mm) and you should...
I haven’t tried those toyos but just got the nitto terra grappler G3s on mine and they are quiet and comfortable and I them in C load. Looks like they come in SL in the sizes you mention so maybe give them a look too?
Replaced the KO2s with Nitto Terra Grappler G3s. 285/75r17 in C load. +25 offset wheels. Rubbed on the front fender liner but pinned it forward and no rubbing now. Front mud flap was already removed.
I went OEM as I read conflicting things online about non-OEM requiring reusing the ball and it didn’t seem to be easily removable. My other vehicles have a clip that holds the socket over the ball but this design doesn’t so I paid the extra $20 or so to simplify and not worry about trying to...
New shoes today. Went with the less aggressive sidewall out as I think it looks better on the LC. 285/75r17 in C load for a bit more comfort on the road. Coming from half worn KO2s, these are instantly quieter. Need to figure out the optimal psi but 2 miles in and they are great.
Also, if you’re going to add an aftermarket roof rack to the LX, I believe you have to drop the interior headliner and it’s much more involved than the LC. Not a dealbreaker but just wanted to mention it!
There definitely was some changes to the tires and I think they sacrificed a little snow handling for more mud/off-road handling. Since the AT4s are 1-2 years old now you may have a harder time finding the AT3s and if you do, check the date code as the tires may already be 2+ years old. I loved...
Bumping this up as I’d like to return my 2016 to stock. New OEM kits are absurdly priced so if anyone has the stock air cleaner assembly gathering dust in their garage I’d be happy to take it off your hands.
