Removed the passenger side wing to paint it, and the rusty exhaust and manifold was staring me down... decided to pull it off and give it a quick coat of VHT. Small steps in the right direction

I always start out by looking at what I changed last. Checked your oil and grease everywhere? Do you have handbrake on the rear drums or T-case? Check they fitted the correct adjusters and mechanism in the rear brakes, and that they haven't moved - mine is a transition year and has handbrake...

Best upgrade to my tool box.. Write the spanner sizes big enough to actually see them without the obligatory over-50 reading glasses... Simple thing saves me a lot of time.

Slowly been getting my bonnet ready for paint... They always say it's all in the preparation, but it always takes me at least ten times longer than i thought it would.

Check your bulb wattages. If they're flashing on hazards, and only illuminating on turn, then the circuits are all OK, but the flasher unit isn't correctly loaded. Could be corrosion on some connections, or else the wrong bulb fitted (too low wattage).

That's actually pretty much what's I did last time, but some of the surfaces were dirty I guess. Maybe i wasnt clear though - my intention is to get it working properly (the rest of the mechanism came in a box when i bought the truck)

A lot of loose steering feel is purely expectation. Iirc the manual says 10cm at the steering wheel is normal play. After 50 years I'd think 15cm is probably reasonable?? If you've got half a turn on the wheel then it needs a look - check first that you don't have a landrover though ;)

Pulled my cowl vent delete plate off, as I work through de-rusting the front end, so I share it here for your entertainment or enlightenment. This is the worst part of the steelwork so far so I can't really complain. It's pretty obvious why it was leaking onto my feet, and even after installing...

Sounds terrifying. I can't help but be impressed though. There aren't many vehicles around that would hit the guard rail without being totally written off. The rail almost looks like it's come out worse than the truck!

I seem to recall that there's a test procedure for the oil pressure sender and gauge outlined in the chassis manual. If the other gauges are working correctly then it's likely a wiring or sender issue.

Always unload the parts washer (sorry, i mean dishwasher) before she gets home ;)

In other news, i picked up a cheap Chinese radiator pressure test kit. The kit itself seems fair enough, but I'm not sure about these instructions...

After stripping the paint off the scuttle, there is a fair amount of surface rust (but so far no holes). Rather than grind it off, i decided to try some rust reverter that i picked up for the fuel tank on my bike last year - already looking much better after 24hrs soaking under saturated shop...
