Along with my longstanding lust for the fj55 I've always imagined we'd have the factory PTO winch. I've read the threads and saved the pictures and think I know some of what I'm up against but thought I'd ask anyway...

Anyone have frame extensions for sale?

Anyone have the pillow block for sale?

I'm willing to scrounge parts for yrs but knowing these two specifics are the hardest to find I thought I'd come to the source first. If I can't find any, does anyone have the frame extensions and pillow block currently on the shelf I could have copied somewhere? Maybe a PPG offering I could get started?

I sold a set of frame extensions and I have one set left, I was keeping them, but willing to loan them as a template. It might be easier to just make up some using box tube and then spacers/shims instead of making the bends.

I do have an extra driveshaft with the frame mount, I'd sell tho.

Hi Eric,

Are you looking for pics of the parts I'm asking about, this thread helped me understand:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/220582-pto-winch-fj55-compatibility.html

I have pics from other threads but that is the gist. I'll shop the fab around Dallas and see what we can come up with for everyone. I've seen far more 40 winches on offer second hand so with these seemingly 55 specific parts I think we'd be better equipped to use their parts?

If anyone has other ideas I'm happy to pay and/or help fund a project. That red/white wagon on the '78 brochure with PTO winch is burned into my mind at this point :)

Thanks for the suggestion, contacted them.

Short answer is - yes, I can make that

Best to have a sample in hand for accurate reproduction. Does cruiser_guy have loose parts or are they mounted. Reason I ask is I think my wife is going to Cranbrook sometime soon - her home town. Perhaps she could pick up parts if they were available. Option two - Paul/ 3_puppies is owed a rear sill from me and I may need parts from him too. There must be something in his shop I need :D.

Kevin, I do have an extra set I could send to reproduce. I've got pics, but I'm gone until thursday eve.

I still have those other running boards if you need them.

Kevin

Sorry, my winch is all mounted and operational. You're welcome to look at it though! https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-...potm-cruiser-guy-guatemala-4.html#post3004339 https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-...potm-cruiser-guy-guatemala-5.html#post3149596

Folks who are thinking of this need to know that the original bumper mounting brackets must be removed to mount up the frame extentions (that means grinding off the rivets and knocking them out).

OK - what kind of time frame is anyone needing these parts? Are we talking about a rush due to project deadlines or just something we need in the next couple of months?

The reason I ask is Paul and I have a parts trade already going so getting these samples from him makes sense. I am also doing a 4 wheel disc brake conversion on my 45 that I have no parts for and Paul may have some stuff I could purchase - I just have to decide what exactly I need.

Long story short - I could schedule with Paul and pay him a visit sometime in the near future to swap parts. If we're in a rush perhaps Paul could ship them to me - we just have to decide who covers the shipping (or everybody Paypal him $5?)

I'm sure Kurt has parts I need too...

Thanks for that mention, I assumed it was bolted but hadn't looked yet.

Hi Kevin,

I don't mind paying for shipping and also some seed money to help make sure it happens but I'm not in much of a rush either. If you think you could make them within the next couple of week and Paul is willing/able to ship I don't mind paying to keep the momentum going :)

Yes, momentum is key. When something like this stalls peoples interests tend to wander and it gets forgotten.

Well, Paul, if you get a chance to collect the parts and pack them up I suppose you could let James know costs and send them. I can PM you my address. I can return your samples with your rear sill either by shipping or in person.

I'll need to know a couple of things:

1) How many should I make?

2) Is this a bulk buy to one guy? or

2) Is this something to add to my product line and sell as guys need them?

It could be a tad pricey for one guy to buy ten sets. I don't mind making a few and stocking them. My production proccess is repeatable without a sample so I could make more at any time. That means seed money is not required. I just need to know how many. If, say, four sales were confirmed I would make 8-10 sets and set them on the shelf. With "word of mouth" and thread documentation anyone needing them in future should find me to make a purchase. I'm not going anywhere.

OTOH - if someone wants to buy 6 sets I'm all for that too...

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Probably best to get more learned opinions here than mine but given our emails I'd probably make a few sets and keep them on offer as people want them from your parts inventory being built up?

Kevin, I'll get a look at stuff when I get home this weekend.

paul

I also have a set. Bought them from Paul.

Let me know if they are needed.

I would think if you made a dozen you would be set for at least a year or two.
