WTB PTO parts, I know I'm late to the party...

And the bad new$..... There is a fair amount of work involved in laying these out and making three attempts before getting it just right. I spent two whole days last week to get them to this point and I have only got one set done. It takes me about an hour per set for welding and grinding/ sanding etc. With material, shearing, punching, forming, welding and the setup of those processes it all takes time. I'm not complaining, I enjoy it, it's what I do. Just trying to clarify the cost to those who may not appreciate that I couldn't just go down to Sears and buy these for you. They are custom made and anything custom can get expensive. Expensive is a relative term though and I think these are well priced at $150.00 per set for the extensions including blasting and powder coating black. The bearing block can be had for another $30.00 and shipping is extra.

Let me know what my price is like. I won't change it, but let me know :)

As I mentioned in the first post today I want 3rd party confirmation of form, fit and function through 3_puppies so I will get his address (again) and send these to him ASAP and we will all get his feedback.

I have 12 sets. Should they be gloss black or flat or??

YEAH!!!

Great work!!!

They look terrific, as soon as they are available to the "general population" I'm in for a set along with a bearing block

Price is excellent for something thats unubtainium ;)

Thanks much - I'm In!!!

Thanks guys.

I was thinking gloss but it's called "Mercedes Black" and might be too shiny so I'll ask for a satin or semigloss smooth finish when the time comes.

update.....the box finally arrived with the proto types the other day for a trial fit. I'll get to check on the fit this weekend.

just a reminder that I want to be ! of the 12.....please!

Kit

And a reminder I want to be 2 of the 12 ;)

They look great!!!

May have to upgrade the whole pig to match the Mercedes black paint??

I would offer to those in this thread first, in order of posting, until I ran out. And then make more if necessary. I think I counted roughly 8 sets informally asked for above and made extra - arriving at 12. 3_puppies gets to keep my sample leaving 11 left. Making more would take only a few days now that all the R&D and layout/machine setup is documented.

Not to worry - if there's a buyer, I'll make more. I still gotta buy gauges, upholster seats, blast and powder my frame..........

Thanks to all those, past and future, who have helped finance my ongoing restomod of the 45

how about a snorkel for the 55?

Never occurred to me :hhmm:

I'll surf some web shots and mull it over.

Keep us posted, I can only find picture of home brew stuff. your work is awesome! It would look factory if you made one.

Kevin,

I'd be interested in a set and bearing block as well. Let me know if they are available.

Thanks.

Just waiting for 3_puppies to test fit the first one before I weld up the rest. I should be able to start shipping them next week if all goes according to plan.

Found any good shots or had any ides on the fj55 snorkel?

Seems there is none currently being produced. I don't mind tackling it but it will take me a while to get to it. Maybe a few months. Sounds like a long time, I know. But keep in mind I do this on the side so I only get maybe 15 hours a week at it and I have a few projects on the go already. Working on a 79-84 40 series floor now.

I just dropped the bolts in the holes, I did not tighten them up. in pics, you'll see some flat steel brackets the PO installed on the bumper and angled back to the frame, probably to support the outer bumper from bending in. they are just bent out of the way for this fitment.

You will need to get ahold of Kevin....Awl_TEQ.....I was just happy I could assist in this for everyone!

Thanks Paul, I appreciate all your help on this. From sending the samples to me on your dime and taking the time to fiddle with them and get them on your rig, taking pictures and sending e-mails - you've been a great help

Ok, the plan going forward is that I will get these all welded, ground and off to powder by Friday. I should get them back by mid next week.... call it Feb 2nd. At that point I will PM all those who have posted in this thread above and anyone who sent me PM requests. I have 11 sets and 11 bearing brackets available. I can make more if it comes to that.

Stay tuned :)

Ok - ready to ship. My powder coater did them on the night shift last night after I dropped them off after work yesterday. I chose a color we use often called "Black Magic". It's got great durability and is rated for outdoor use with a dull finish but not totally flat.

As stated in post #41 the prices are as follows:

Frame Extensions =$150.00/set
Shaft Bearing Bracket =$30.00ea

Shipping comes in at $32.00 for 5 business day service (YMMV) with tracking and insurance.

I will send a PM to each of the following who have expressed interest and then make the remainder available for open sale.

Here are a few shots - the flash is misleading as the finish is not a shiny as it may look.
