Details

An impeccably mechanically maintained 1998 100-series Toyota Land Cruiser (in Lexus LX470 trim) with up-to-date records and a full overlanding setup that needs some body/rust TLC. Currently has 313,000 miles on the odometer. Clean title and Carfax.

All major mechanical services that these cars need have been completed with no expense spared: timing belt, valve cover gasket/spark plugs, new OEM steering rack in 2022, OEM brake booster, heater T’s, etc. All fluids are up to date.

I’d feel comfortable driving it anywhere a vehicle with wheels could go, as-is. This rig does not have the rear locker. It needs some body shop attention (see below), which is why I’ve priced it for parts and/or project enthusiasts. Clean title.

I have owned this vehicle for nearly ten years. This is my third Land Cruiser and I'm now taking a break from offroading. Since my purchase, I have spent thousands making it a great, dependable overland adventure vehicle. Serviced exclusively at either Tor Fab in Everett or Pacific Rim Automotive in Fremont (I can include dozens of pages of service records from the last seven years).

Mods: Pioneer head unit with Apple Car Play and speakers/amplifier installed by Ballard Custom Audio; the Lexus AHC has been deleted and replaced with heavy Old Man Emu 100-series Land Cruiser suspension; Slee differential drop installed by Torfab; Trail Tailor rock sliders on both sides; ARB bull bar with Smittybilt X20 winch and synthetic line; safari rack; and a homemade rear bumper tire carrier/ladder system (needs a sanding/repaint but totally functional). Weather tech mats. Third row seating is deleted for maximum storage (third row seats not included).

Tires are Yokohama Geolander A/T GO15 in 285/75R16 size with decent tread left. Spare is a basically new KO2 in the same size.

The predictable: Paint has some trail rash and a few small dents. Front seats show the wear of 25+ years (motor adjustment and heat work as original), as does the original steering wheel. Seats could use a refresh or Lseat cover. One of the cargo area retractable window motors no longer works (door windows all work great, just the far back one that only opens a couple of inches). Side view passenger mirror housing has a crack, but works fine. Sunroof is sealed/taped and doesn’t work.

The bad: There is rust around the top of the windshield frame with moisture coming in through the headliner during Seattle wetter storms. A sealant was applied that doesn't look pretty. I’ve priced this accordingly so that someone with body shop skills or in a drier climate can have a project and set it up for future success. If I had the ability to do metal work, I’d also delete the sunroof, which has been taped off to make it weather-tight. The next owner could drive it as-is (everything works); use the drivetrain for another project (Troopy on an LX470?) and scrap the body; chop the top off; or part it out.

A great rig that I would keep forever, but I just need to move on to my next, boring chapter in life. Happy to send more pics or video of the engine on / driving.
