My dad is looking for another snow plow for his business. He's already got a fj40 and ran across this the other day. It's vacuum operated to lift the plow. You can see the big vacuum canister on top. There's a valve on the dash to operate it. Then it uses a winch and spring return to change angle. Very unusual. Anyone ever seen a snowplow built like that.

Second question is whether this thing would be worth picking up. It looks fairly complete, but as you can see, rust is fairly heavy. I don't have any inside pics, but my dad said that it looks like it has been sitting for a long long time. This is in montana, so there wouldn't be much humidity and there's a decent chance that the rust isn't much more than heavy surface rust. Not sure though. Anyway, the owner wants $2k, but I think I'd own it for $1500 or so. Too much? Seems kinda high to me. I have always wanted an fj45. I picked up my fj40 for $500 and drove it home. I doubt this old girl is going to fire up.

the rust doenst look bad at all....looks to be heavy surface. However, if you look at the fiberglass cap it is the same color as the cowl. It might only look like heavy surface rust due to the paint job.

I had the opportunity to pick one up this last August. A 77 FJ45, that was a snow plow at a Toyota dealership. Never got to it, my parents weren't ready to have another cruiser in our backyard. Mine looked a little rougher, but at a reasonable $800. I would talk the owner down, and pick it up. good luck!

That looks cool sitting there. It would make a neat photo hanging on a wall. Price seems a little hight but depends how bad you want it. I also see alot of good parts there.

I was wandering about that myself. I don't think my dad checked it out real heavily as he was pretty sure he didn't want it. I didn't know if the tops were fiberglass on the fj45s. So it might be just a flat brown primer of some sort. I'd guess there's still rust, but maybe not too bad. The bed looks fairly decent in the rust category.

Oh, I think the owner said it was a '58. Does that look age appropriate?

The tops are metal.

Well I'm surprised that somebody has not tried to wrestle that one away from you. WELL worth $500.00 if not complete rust bucket.

I think that's Rustoleum paint, not rust. Who knows what's below the paint. Buy it.

Plow looks like a hack job to me, but the rest looks pretty good. I'd buy it.

my guess is its pretty solid and at $1500 I'd grab.

bed is off another 45 I am sure

mising the running boards

What rust? That looks awsome to me. $1500 is totally worth it... Good luck...

Looks good at $1500. Have you gotten it down to that yet? Even $2000 if you really want it. $500 either way for something you really want isn't that much. Get a good look under the truck and in the engine bay. Will be nice to see some more pics and also how this turns out for you. Good luck, Alan.
