need some help on determining fair price. owner is in fairfax ca and is asking $4,000 for an fj55 described below. is this a fair price? all thoughts appreciated. i'm going to look at the rig this afternoon. thx.

1976 Toyota Land Cruiser
FJ-55 Series

Rare and very good mechanical shape. Rust around the roofline (rain gutters) makes this a bit of a project vehicle, but mechanically is in very good shape.

I've owned this truck for over 10 years, and am the third owner. The vehicle is driven under 250 miles per year.

Started life in Ft. Collins CO, and the second owner did a lot of great mechanical fine-tooth-comb work here in SF during his lulls on long firefighter shifts at the SFFD Fireboat garage. During the years I've also put a lot of time and effort into maintenance, mostly mechanical.

Looks very good to me.

It would be a good deal in GA.

Check for rust!!! It looks like the rear left fender has some rust issues as well the front fender upper/lower fender seam and maybe the rockers? Cant tell to well with those pics? Roofs can be really expensive to fix, ask me how I know! Just go over it with your OWN fine tooth comb. Looks like it might be a pretty good deal though. If you dont mind some rust or some body work, it looks you have a great platform to start- I love 76 piggies  keep us posted-Aaron

Looks pretty good but don't know if I would of sent the sellers information along with the pics! never know who might want the same thing as you!

its been repainted at least once, there is much bondo and rust popping in the rockers, 1/4's,back sill etc etc

run away

My buddy, who has been renting a house for over a year,

has the owners vehicle in the back yard, and it has not been removed, even though the owner was asked.

Isnt there a law or something which gives him possession of the vehicle?

nope...he's just renting the house. if he owned the house, then he could look into abandoned vehicle laws.

hard to tell from the pics, but it does look like bondo in the circled spots. common for pigs, but with the repaint, hard to tell how bad it is. if it's not horrible and it's in as good running condition as stated, $3k-4k dependant on market.

not worth 4k IMO, piggies have LOTS of rust, if the owner can't prove it via pics of it being restored, there is rust there, that being said you may not be able to find a "rust free" piggie, I have seen very few out there, I will have one someday when I get off my fat lazy ass and finish my project.......

A 55 in that shape would be gone here in the East, assuming it is as good as it looks in the photos.

If the interior is in good shape and it is in good mechanical shape, it looks to be priced right.

Look at the front tie rods and knuckles. Any oil leaks? Did you drive it? How is the frame?

Make sure the rear window works and look under the floor mats to see the condition of the floors.

Passenger side door is another area. Open the door look at the door mounting.

A lot depends on your plans for the 55 and your budget.

Bull****. Don't offer more than 1500 at the most. What you cannot see in those pics is the roof is rust around the whole thing. A pillars are shot. It's a rust timebomb. Unless your a metal guy and handy with a welder find a different pig. There are some out there cheaper and have less rust.

I'd personally rather have a pig with no engine and no rust than a pig with those issues.

X 2 with Marshall...personal experience; pretty paint , fiberglass and bondo covered up a total worthless..........unrestorable pile of crap............all 4 pillars were gone............. would prefer one with out an engine and honest surface rust than what lies beneath the shiny paint..........just my 0.02
