On a stock white 1975 cruiser was the bezel white?

I read that chrome was an option on '78 and later models. If the bezel's chrome, the hood hooks and wipers are chrome too. There may have been chrome bumpers and bumperettes too.

i have never seen one actually come from the factory that way....nor have i ever seen one in any literature...

only in rigs that have been repainted...or...had bought a replacement from toyota....primer black.


bandis had them black...and i have seen over seas pics of cruisers that have been disputed as being original black...are you sure it has never been replaced in the over 30+ years the rig has been driving?

i know of 2 people that like the white rigs when they bought it...but hated the white bezel...sooo...they painted them right away to 1 black the other red

im not saying you are wrong....as i have seen many strange things come from toyota

I have never seen a factory chrome pre 78 bezel, now lots of west coast dealers dolled them up......I owned a 73 that came from the son of the original buyer, from California, it had the paperwork with it, they charged $250, for the dress up package which was chrome bezel, running boards, vent on the cowl, hook and windshield hooks, and a bar that went over the bumper and back to the frame. This bar is identical to the one on the 73 BAJA FJ40 which you can find pix of.

This looks like a great place for a before and after pic of Alice, my '71. Keep in mind that she has brought me so much more joy in the after form. I've had her for 13 years and cannot tell you if any of the chrome accessories were stock or not. Obviously, the mirrors and light bar were not. Needless to say, I'm not a big fan of chrome.

Guess I should have read your post before posting mine. It would seem that Alice got the same package. I know not of this bar you speak of though. I don't remember taking anyting like that off. But the bezel, running boards, cowl vent, hooks, windshield hooks and side vent were all chrome. I think they look better black.

I am pretty sure there is OEM pre square bezel chrome bezel

I KNOW the bumper and bumperettes are OEM...I have a full set in the boxes(bought from Toyota)

79+ chrome bezel for sure OEM

black bezel......"maybe" middle east spec 40 "maybe" alot of folks change stuff even when new, just look at what folks do to the new FJ cruiser.....someday someone will say those mods are OEM as they were like that when they bought it.....but it was dealer or original owner mods

My 80 BJ40 appears to have come with the folowing chrome bits:
Bezel
Front bumper
Rear bumperettes
Windshield Wiper Motor cover
Cowl vent
Hood hinges
Hood hardware

Who knows if these items were OEM or dealer or PO after market add-ons. All of the above is now pitted and has significant rust and the cost of rechroming them here is out of the question, assuming that I was a big fan of chrome, which I'm not. As such all of the above are being replaced with black.

every 40 series that ive seen here has a chrome bezel, chrome front bumber, and chrome rear bumperettes. i think it depends on the market it was sold into..
