I was moved to this post from the FJ40´s.
last week just got a 2FQ15 in a trade for a 97 ford ranger. It´s in a really good shape, solid 6L running and only in need for a new paint job. + I got another unit as spare parts too :D so i think it was a really good deal.

Last weekend got the pickup off, and prime it and replaced the wood seats.

by the end of this week should be with the new military paint, and some minor electric upgrades. (24 to 12 volt conversion.)
I´ll keep you updated with this new project.

Im in Santiago de Chile, btw...

forgot to mention that it has a 6L chevy 250 mounted to the original transmission.
The tires are 10.5R20 Michelin, but I was wondering if I could grow a little bit on this. maybe 12? whats the R&P on this axles? I was also thinking about putting a V8 350 in there. Any comments?

I´ll upload new pictures tomorrow when we´ve finished the paint job.

Hi Johnny,
mine is a 1971 unit, at least that´s what the registration said.

I´d also love to put a toyota TDI in there, but toyota diesel engines are way too expensive and rare here.

On the other hand 350´s are very common and un expensive and easy to attach to the drivetrain I have right now.

I have a 99´rebuild 7.3 powerstroke from a F350 that I was also considering installing on it, but that involves a lot of modifications right now.:wrench::eek:

Let´s finish the paint job for now and then I can think about the other upgrades!;)

first congratulations
second why a paintjob & modifications?
This vintage Toyo looks great, does`t need this at all.
Can`t see rust or something else, that needs to be done.
Just drive it....
... my two pence
Cheers

Peter, danke für deine Gluckwunsche!
Firts of all, the paint job is because I got this FQ15 with half of the job done, the cabin had been prepared and primed painted, so it was missing the final paint only, and since the cabin was half done, I just completed the job with the pickup :p

The engine swap it´s becuase it feels really slow to drive around.
OK, I know it´s a 40 years old truck but It´ll be nice to have more power under it (or maybe I´m just accustomed to V8´s power) We´ll see how this goes later.
