Hello everyone,
My name is Julio and I live in Vancouver, BC CANADA.
I used to own a 2010 Nissan Xterra, I put a lot of time and money into that beast and loved it.
Unfortunately I rolled it, but fortunately no one was injured and now I am the happy owner of a Lexus LX450. I am very excited to start a new project on this soon to be Beast.
I bought my rig about 2 weeks ago for a great deal.
Interior is mint, Exterior needs some work/paint and undercarriage also needs some loving (rusty).
Can't post links yet, so I owe you pictures.
Took it wheeling last weekend to test the lockers and it rode amazing.
Im very happy with it. I think I may have gotten a couple of scratches on the side steps and front bumper. No big deal though, all that is getting replaced anyways.
Can't post links yet, so I owe you pictures.
About a week ago I bought a 6bt with 159k kms (out of a 93 Ram) and a NV4500 (out of a 96 ram).
I just started cleaning the engine and will be painting it flat black over the weekend.
I've read various threads regarding the Cummins swaps/conversions on the 80 series landcruisers.
I'm either blind or need to work on my search skills, because I could not find a good thread that documented all the steps for the swap.
My plan is to document everything that I do, which will include links to where I purchase all the various components for these conversions (engine and tranny I got from Craigslist) and what worked and what didn't.
To start I will be cleaning and painting the engine, clean the tranny, send the bellhousing and flywheel to get resurfaced, purchase a clutch, deal with the KDP, install a new timing case gasket, install EGT, replace rear engine seal, replace the drive belt, then assemble everything together to have it ready to swap in.
I plan to start removing the stock engine at the end of the month.
I know this is a huge undertaking and that it will require a bit of modification (I'm not planing on getting the kit from Diesel Adapters for the Engine) and I realize that there will be unforeseen issues and costs. All in all, I plan to take 2 months to finish this but I won't get frustrated if it takes 4.
If you have any questions/concerns/suggestions/comments they are all welcome.
Julio
