So after 16 years and 326,xxx miles, my steering wheel has started showing its age :meh:

Can't afford a new wheel ($700+), nor can I afford the downtime to have it re-wrapped :frown:

So I snagged this little press on kit from FleaBay for $17 bucks and snapped it on :grinpimp:

Snapped it on in seconds and it was such a tight fit that I didn't need to use the supplied double stick tape.

I know it's kinda ricerish and doesn't really match my redwood burl dash pieces, but it did fit a lot better than I thought it wood ;)

I have a wheel skin on mine, but also wanted to see what other options were out there. I sent in for a quote request from www.craftcustoms.com and got the following back:
"The cost to reupholster your LX450 steering wheel to factory new leather specifications is $250 plus shipping. Simply send in your steering wheel and we'll take care of the rest. Turnaround is about 7 business days. We can also reupholster your gear shift or ebrake handle in leather to match your steering wheel for $100 each.

The cost to modify your LX450 steering wheel to woodgrain and leather specifications is $499 plus shipping. Be sure to send in a sample piece of the woodgrain you want us to match to, and we'll take care of the rest. Turnaround is about 2 -3 weeks. We can also reupholster your gear shift or ebrake handle to match your steering wheel in leather for $100 each or in woodgrain/leather for $199 each. "

It's an option I plan on doing and in fact bought an extra $30 steering wheel to send in.

i know your doing this to cover up the wear marks on the wheel, but to make it look like a factory wood trim wheel, you dont use the 2 side ones. just top and bottom and it will look like its from toyota.

That has got to get hot in the summer!

Is the rest of your wood trim from a kit? If so, may I ask where you got it? I have black plastic trim and would like to upgrade it. Thanks.

I believe you could also bolt on a steering wheel from another lexus such as a rx330 they have nice leather and Wood grain wheels on them and can be had for less than 500 w/ air bag usually. I'll verify this one day by swapping in one of my old sc300 steering wheels, you can fit pretty much any of them on an sc such as is300, rx300 and 330, also most model gs.

Why don't you just buy a spare wheel from someone here and then have your stock one re-skinned? I am sure arcteryx must have a bunch of beat up ones lying around. That honestly looks terrible. Your beautiful truck deserves better.

Because I'm cheap and would not be able to explain to the wife that I spent $250 bucks or more on a steering wheel :o

I think it looks pretty close to the Toyo woody wheels :meh:

Here are some shots without the side caps comparing the Tundra wood wheels
