Yep do the exhaust like I did :) Truck is looking good!
I have been busy with mine hehe...will have to post some updates one day...

Get some updates, you have one of the nicest cruisers around. And I somewhat copied you.
I got a shop to do the exhaust. All stainless with a big ass muffler for 300 bucks.
I dont think the tech realized how shaky the 3b is. At startup idle the exhaust smacks the frame haha. I need to put another support in there.

I am quite happy with the final result.

Because of the huge muffler.
A turbo muffles the sound alot. So you dont need to include a muffler. I won't be ready for my turbo for at lease 2 years. So i needed a muffler in the meantime.
The muffler wouldn't fit between the frame rail and the body, so I had to go this route.

Do you have passengers in the rear ever? They might die haha

Hmmm...yeah that muffler is pretty massive.
For the others info...I have my exhaust dump on the passenger side in front of the rear tire, no issues with exhaust coming in. That being said I don't really carry anyone in the back, so I don't know what it would be like with the rear windows open...but since they are never open it is a non-issue.
I run the exhaust straight off the turbo with a Tundra 3inch resonator. I would not change it.

Gary, Was it for expense or ??? ... reason behind dumping the exhaust in front of the tire instead of going all the way back?

J

It wasn't a matter of cost. This exhaust is only for the short term, until I get my turbo setup done. I like side exits, so i figured perfect time to give it a try.

Fxxx em

A week ago I tried to shift to fifth and the whole shifter came out of the transmission into my hand. So the trucks been sitting until I find time to deal with that.

Took the opportunity to paint over some of the places that have over spray from when I re sprayed it.

Before

After

Thread has been dead while. I've spent all my time outside instead of wrenching.

I got into knife making the other week. Turned some base board and an old purse into a pretty sweet knife

And because this is a tech forum, Only one thing broke on the truck this summer. The shifter retaining cup. For some reason the tabs bent

Winter is approaching fast, My todo list is pretty huge but I need to build a roof rack and a center console.

That knife handle is pretty awesome!
That is strange the metal cup tabs bent. Was the plastic cap on the end of the shifter ball?

There is supposed to be plastic on the end of the ball?
The shifter literally ripped out into my hand while going for fifth.
Do you think maybe the plastic stayed in the transmission? Or should I have a closer inspection haha

Nice knife Gary, reminds me of an Opinel in a way. Man once you get started with the knife making it gets INSANE, just like with cruisers.

I had a friend in East TX that got me started on Damascus and weld forging. I've made a few and have actually stopped with all the fab work of late.

Not to pirate your thread but here ya go...

J, you are posting pornography again...

That box of wood is glorious, I like that Damascus blade, but the scales on the first knife are exquisite

My next knife is going to be Damascus style, or I will keep the black heat treatment on the blade. I want it to look rugged.
It is addicting

You should brand one of the Toyota logo's into em and hock a few as part of trail tailor. Lots of land cruiser guys want nice knives

I have a ton of old 1967-1971 FJ40 leaf springs that I need to do something with. Also a few OLD course farrier files. The wood on those handles are burl hardwood.. oak, walnut, hickory... etc.. It was plentiful in Texas.

The others in the box are more exotic and have been stabilized.

I have some really nice CUSTOM damascus blades if you are interested.
