The Cascades got some fresh snow yesterday so decided to head up to the High Cascades in Oregon to get a Christmas Tree.

Went to a hidden snowmobile cabin that’s actually free to stay in.

I can’t remember the last time I’d clean or washed the 60. My wife wanted to take it down to the beach and dig razor clams while staying at our friends house in Ocean Park, Washington.

Left this afternoon on the 160 mile drive from Oregon across the Columbia to Washington, back across the Columbia to Oregon and then back across the Columbia on the 4 mile long Astoria bridge to Washington and up the Long Beach peninsula. Up to Ocean Park to the beach house.

Nice! I've never been north of Tillamook, I hope to get up there and do some camping-surfing-kayaking... I have never done the clam thing... I know they are out there...

Low tide was at 8:20pm and was only -0.8’, but low enough to dig razor clams. The lower the easier to dig them. With the waves in the dark it’s harder to get them and then dodging the bigger waves. Really a lot of fun. We got 22 of em’.

Now this is a vacation… was going to Long Beach to play pickle ball when I spot an SOA 60 parked in town. Drop off the fam to hurry and meet up with the owner. The dude was stoked to go play on the beach.

I was wondering how it was out there. We got slush drops down here in the valley but your side and the coastal side looked pretty snow covered!

I'm in Mcminnville where we've been getting a mini-blizzard the last few mornings that dumps an inch of very wet snow, then immediately melts. On the west side of town, into the coast range at about 1000ft elevation, has nearly 2 feet of snow right now.

Wow were literally just getting slushy rain up here in portland. I need to get out of the city!

Saturday I went to @boots4 shop and installed Manafrelv Big Brake Kit.

The awesome part is the kit widens the front axle width by 2” on each side so the 2” wheel spacers aren’t needed. I already have the 80s series rear axle with disc brakes and an 80s series master cylinder.

The steel plate that holds the calipers had a tack welded plate, no instructions why it was there or how it went on. When I rebuilt the knuckles got rid of the dust shield so already had that plate on spindle.

Used grinder and removed the kits plate and also needed to remove the caliper mounts on the 60s knuckle as they interfered with the placement of the calipers.

The hub factory has 2 steel dowels, the new one has 6. 4 holes need to be drilled. Mike did a great job with the drill press.

The kit rotors are slotted and heavy duty and marked for L and right.

The kits calipers are about twice the size of the stock calipers.
