The center diff axle ended here in 63? Jim or John (LITP) would know the exact year... When toyota went to the offset axle ... Old tooling was sent to brazil and the center axle carried on longer AFAIK

I was going to go with the 250, haven't seen either in twenty years. The 261 is a great motor. Not that it matters I'm curious how the 250 is mated to the transmission. I think there is a bellhousing that goes from the modern chevy pattern to the old tranny pattern.
If they used the gm motor did they use the toyota tranny or the gm tranny?
Also curious if the frame number matches the tag. And where did that f motor end up?

Looks like the VIN plate has F 89188 for a engine number. That would be about the right serial for 58. I think it left Japan as a rolling chassis with a engine/transmission/transfer case/axles and has had a engine transplant unless the GM used the same F in their serial number. The transmission/transfer case are Toyota.
Center axle ended with 3FJ40~18301. Those would still be a coarse spline axle. A fine spline would have to be custom made

The original engine is a toyota. Today use a GM250S engine and transmission toyota 4 synchronized gears. The bellhousing is GM.
250S - 4.1 6 cilindros 4.1L 132 cv a 4000 RPM - 1985–89 Gas - DFV 446
the axes have been updated. Installed axes toyota bandeirante - fj40 (2001).
