Picked up this Superwinch Husky10 yesterday and decided to do a little mock up to see where the best placement would be :hhmm:

At first, I wanted it on the driver's side, but due to the motor location pushing the drum towards the center, the cable just won't line up with the secondary fair lead I plan on mounting on the x-member between the left wing and the hitch :o

So I tried the passenger side and it looks to be a much better fit

Seems to line up perfectly and looks like there's plenty of room to play with...

Also looks like it will be tucked away nicely...

Mounting may be tricky due to the wing braces....

I'm thinking about just getting a 40"x10"x3/8" plate and welding up 4 large angle brackets, then bolt the brackets to the rails using 8 bolts :hhmm:

(longer versions of these)

I figure the brackets should give the wing braces enough clearance for removal if necessary

I'll most likely mount a small ATV sized steel Hawse between the camera and the trailer plug :hhmm:

I'll be picking up supplies this week, but I'm open to suggestions.....

What is under your cooler carrier - what your license plate is attached to? Looks interesting.

Nice project!

Nice project. Have you looked at 4X4 Labs rear winch bumper for ideas? I know towing is important to you so that design may be an option.

I love your cruiser. Just curious - how much does it weigh?

I need a shop like you have. I am getting way too old to be doing all my cruiser work on the floor of my garage. Nice hot rod in the corner too!

Thanks

I don't have a clue, but it will be a bit heavier after the new front bumper arrives  (custom BIOR plate)

I'm too spoiled to ever work on the ground again

I don't even pop the hood to check my oil unless I'm at the shop :o

Nice hot rod in the corner too!

For sale if you're interested ;)

So you're getting around to it eh snake? Right on! looks like a fun project. I posted a link on that old thread I started. Hope you dont mind.

Nice. Those worm drive winches are great. Looks like there is plenty of room to work with under there.

I was just one click away to get one of those on Tencha .. ( ended with 16.5 one no worm style ) lucky for you don't have the amount of rain and mud we have down here .. hard life to any rear winch under the cabin ..

Pulled the remote socket on the solenoid cover, added a piece of plastic cut out from a bumper and wired in a 4 wire conduit cable to extend the socket to the rear bumper....

After bolting it up, I had one of my guys do the dirty work of cutting the rear fairlead slot...

I still need to install a main cut-off solenoid under the hood, run the main power cable and install a safety kill switch on the bumper, but my car lift has been leaking down lately, so I'm gunna finish up the rest after the lift company comes out to service it on Monday....

Snake, nice install, very straight forward approach.
