Sorry for the cynical reply and I know this is about taste, so not very helpful to argue about. It looks to be me like a dressed up Suzuki Jimmy. I am sure many other would love it so please go for it. It may grow on me in real F2F.

I think we're all getting a little too down in the weeds on all this. It's a Made in Japan body on frame IFS Toyota wagon with 4 wheels and a 4-lo transfer case. For the vast majority of use cases, these trucks are basically the same thing- and all of them are outstanding (100, 120, 150, 200, 250, 300). And where the 120/150 had few weaknesses, the 250 seems to have significant improvements.Sorry for the cynical reply and I know this is about taste, so not very helpful to argue about. Exactly and with the understanding that I have both a GX and Limited 4Runner in the garage already, so something small and extra nimble would be novel. Until 2020, I had only ever owned compact cars. For sure! I was just down in Mexico and they really seemed to be gaining in popularity. I wouldn't trade my LC for one but a Jimny would compliment it very well.
4 bangerFinally, took the opportunity yesterday afternoon over my lunch break to test drive a 1958 (Landcruiser version wasn't available) after crawling around them at various auto shows/expo and I was somewhat disappointed as it didn't overly impress me in the driving department. Maybe, I just need some more seat time in one but I'm going to stick with my current Tacoma. I still like the vehicle compared to the new 4runner.
Helpful.4 banger
I would rent a 250 and make sure I like the way it’s build and the hybrid workings. Perhaps the way you plan to do it allows for an extensive test drive, advisable in any case when purchasing a second hand. You could also cross shop with other Toyota/Lexus products although taste comes in to play.Currently drive a LX470 2004, 112,000 miles on her, excellent vehicle! Had a 1994 FJ80 drove until 239,000 and sold it (mistake), next wife drove an RX300, then GX460 and now the LX470. All fantastic vehicles! I drive a Tundra, I'm thinking when the LC250s are 3-4 years old will buy a used one to replace the LX470. Hoping the LX470 will appreciate and maybe at that time be worth 25-30K, we will see as it will have about 120,000 miles on it at that time. Live behind the Redwood curtain, every thing is close to home, so drive 2-3,000 miles annually.
So far I’ve been able to get past everything that everyone tried to tell me I wouldn’t like. I mean you have to accept that this is a different cruiser than any others you’ve owned if you’ve owned any others? However, I just choose to enjoy it.Hi, all,
I'm new to this forum and cars in general. I didn't care so much for cars until I saw the LC 250 announcement back in last August. I'm excited for it in these coming months.
I'm hopeful, yet remaining skeptical, of the LC 250's performance. On paper, it looks nice. It gives a nice HP and ft/lbs than its predecessors. Sure, the MPG isn't so great, but again, better than its predecessors, and all of that hybrid engine power went to, again, the performance for the vehicle. It's not entirely wasted. I'm not too displeased with the hybrid setup, as I trust Toyota's hybrid systems since they've been in the game since the late '99s, and from what I've learned from car buddies, Toyota know what they are doing.
I've read many and many comments regarding the LC 250 on YouTube, Reddit. But I'd like to know what ih8mud users' opinions are. Thank you and I'd appreciate the positive discussion.
I'm still getting to know my 250 premium
Here's the things I like, I might edit this later and add to this as things dawn on me.
PROS
It's a new design
The Leather feels excellent, the dash feels great, the layout in the 250 lc driver seat is a huge win, all the materials feel like quality. some people mistake the plastic on the outside as a con but the fact that it was designed to be replaced in different sections if it were to get trail damage is a huge plus. its a well thought out design.
The Tech it's AMAZING. The Cameras are high quality and don't look like a potato
the Driver seat feels like you're in command
One of the best looking LCS to come out imo
I like the turbo 4banger plenty enough power for me
I like the Hybrid I like the ability to charge up battery banks, camping, its like having a honda generator anywhere I go
The way it drives
The fact that they finally gave us the Toyota version of Land Cruiser Prado aka light duty land cruiser.
the fact mines made in the Toyota Tahara Factory gives me a little more joy.
CONS
Needs Premium Fuel (I Justify the better mpg to make this ok.)
The Cargo area battery taking up space (This one sucks I wish they found a way to implement this somewhere else less invasive. but again it might be worth the trade off of charging things because you ARE essentially hauling around a generator)
No Tailgate (I'm planning on waiting until someone releases a slide out table or build my own) Overall I'm happy with it. Is it perfect? Nope but no vechile is perfect they all have their pros and cons. Anyway, I'm still getting to know it.
