Shopping for brake hoses and a few misc brake parts. Kinda stunned at how low the Impex prices are. The JPY is weak right now, so maybe that’s a factor. If I’m doing it right, my Impex cart for all 5 brake hoses, even WITH air shipping and tariff/duty comes to less than half of Serra’s “on sale” prices.

Can someone who has ordered from Impex verify how they work:

1. Check out and pay for the parts alone
2. Await Impex’s receipt of the parts
3. When notified, pay for shipping (which you can manually estimate prior to step 1), and tax/duties (which they seem to indicate is 15%).

I’m not in a hurry, but looks like shipping for small stuff is a little over a week. I’m near a major urban center in the US.

Am I missing something? Their site is not as user friendly as Partsouq or Rockauto, but unless there’s a gotcha that I’m not seeing, their prices are worth the extra bother.

I buy quite a bit from them. It's gotten a bit more tedious of late, but the service is still as it was two years ago.

Only thing with IMPEX vs PS/ARA is you can still buy parts even if they are not available. Then they send you a cancel the order and the $$ stays in an account balance with them. Not a big deal for me because I'll use the balances up with other orders. An individual may be out money for a bit. To my knowledge they don't "refund" cancelled or NLA orders.

But, you will get a confirmation, then a processing, if all is good with parts inventory they send you a shipping payment due notice and then wait for shipping/customs release. Duties and fees range pending what the parts actually are. Each part is itemized and rated.

Where are we on the car parts tariff roulette wheel today? Impex suggests it may be 15% for personal retail, but to “check with your local customs agency.” Right 🙄🤣

Media says it’s 25% unless subject to the “renegotiated” rate of 15%.

Because of that, I took the hit and ordered all my parts from Toyota sales the past few months. When I started doing estimated shipping+fees, it was too close in price vs the possible headaches.

Prior to that I was a supporter of Impex, great pricing on JDM parts vs anything in the states.

If we’re in the 15-25% range, that’s still a bargain all-in. But if we’re suddenly at 200%, not so much. Without a functioning government, it’s impossible to tell in advance.

Avoid buying ANY PARTS from outside the US. There are endless threads of people getting screwed after the tariffs went into effect.

I used IMPEX, AMAYAMA, and PARTSOUQ for years like many others as well as cheap deals on eBay from the Middle East or Japan. Those times are over.

Can you share any of those threads? Recent ones on ‘Mud.

Since I literally just received my AHC globes 2 days ago, here is my experience. It took about a month from order to delivery. Tariff Rate was 15% + a 17$ DHL Duty processing fee.

About $650 total including tariffs and shipping

$440 AHC Globes
$123 Shipping to california
$87 Tariffs

How does that compare to your nest all-in stateside price?

Used impex/souq/etc in the past. Souq is pretty quick but not a HUGE savings after shipping .. they really get you. Impex Processing and shipping is slow like 6 weeks to my door.. but $$ saved was good.

Now on a lot of stuff I just pay the dealer and have my part in a day or two usually. Less headache.. plus if there’s a problem I can actually talk to a person and I know where they live

Impex is good, but you're looking at probably a month from click to when they arrive.
also, as stated before, the tariffs are a big unknown. some people are charged reasonable amounts, but I was changed almost 80% tariffs on a recent order, and it was impossible to appeal or talk to anyone at UPS about it. It was either pay the tariff or don't get your parts.

So I wont order anything from overseas anymore, unfortunately the ship has sailed on that

I just bought wheel bearings and hubs for my wife’s Gx. Tariffs and shipping were about 51% of sales price plus another $56 import duty. Still a good deal.

I say if you have time to wait, and find the prices WAY under state side pricing, go for it.

Sorry for reposting a question that I asked on another thread--I'd like to ask around a little more.

My 2003 LX470 needs a new set of AHC globes, and I heard of Impex-jp.com. But when I was about to place the order, they stated that they couldn't ship gas filled shock absorbers (a screenshot below). It seems that I can still place the order, but I'm afraid that I will lose my money if they cannot ship the globes and don't let me cancel the order. I saw many of us successfully got the globes delivered to their door, so I'm wondering if this is something new with impex-jp? I appreciate any experience/insights from the community.

Globes yes, AHC shocks no. I don't know why that is, but that's how they do it, and it's been that way for a while.
