On top of Impex recalculating costs for my item, now it's 15 US dollars extra, and now DHL wants 37 bucks for an Import Duty Fee. I ordered a Charcoal Canister thinking it was cheaper via Impex, when I should've just gotten it locally in the US. (NOTE: It's a Charcoal Canister for a Camry that can be retrofitted for a 100 series with some slight modification.)

I'm going to take a long pause before ordering from Impex again.

Additional NOTE: I placed the order in Jan 2026.
Note that those extra costs aren't Impex's fault.

Sorry for reposting a question that I asked on another thread--I'd like to ask around a little more.

My 2003 LX470 needs a new set of AHC globes, and I heard of Impex-jp.com. But when I was about to place the order, they stated that they couldn't ship gas filled shock absorbers (a screenshot below). It seems that I can still place the order, but I'm afraid that I will lose my money if they cannot ship the globes and don't let me cancel the order. I saw many of us successfully got the globes delivered to their door, so I'm wondering if this is something new with impex-jp? I appreciate any experience/insights from the community.

I ordered new OEM AHC globes from Impex and they were no problem with shipping or Customs. :-)

My recent experience with Impex was great. Be patient as it will take just about a month to arrive, but when I paid 25% (including shipping and tariffs) for OEM accumulators what the cost from the cheapest US option was it was a no brainer.
It only took 10 minutes to place the order...
Watch your email for updates to approve shipping and from DHL to pay tariff.

It actually saves time to order online and have shipped to your front door. As for the local dealership..in my region the part guys are bunk .. don’t have any LC knowledge. You just pay a premium for same or next day convenience in a pinch it’s great.

Having said that… A lot of parts, after shipping, it’s actually pretty even $ to just order from the dealer.

Now… if you find a knowledgeable LC parts guy at the dealer it would nice to foster that relationship… but everyone I’ve encountered have been complete bunghole.

Also, my local dealership no longer allows online ordering so it’s a pain in the rear to have to call with part lists or email back and forth.

A seamless online ordering process with a good part diagram catalogue and reasonable prices would be nice. Partsouq is pretty close to being just that .. but IDK with tariffs now.

Impex was extremely slow and clunky but it worked

Just my two sense

I've found them to be excellent. Their prices are the lowest, they respond quickly to questions, their shipments are always 100% correct and complete (no missing items), etc. They are my favorite parts site! The only problem nowadays is the brutal tariffs and shipping costs to the US, but that's not Impex's fault of course.
"their shipments are always 100% correct and complete (no missing items)". Has not been my experience.
I've had many issues with Impex. Just in last two year, not counting Tariffs, taxes, duty, fees. I'm out ~$2k, due to: missing parts, Toyota parts they say marked from China ( I had tossed in trash), lost shipment and damaged parts.

Partsouq and others, out of UAE. Have been great. They care about customer service.

The best in my 25 years of buying Toyota parts, has been Serra Toyota of Decatur and my Local Toyota Dealership parts man.

Interesting, I have made 6 to 8 orders, and they have always been accurate. I do agree though, Serra Toyota is the best.

I just put in an order with Impex for 4 globes to MA and will report back the outcome. I am willing to go through this process to pay much less for the same product from a reputable Japanese company and put my saved money elsewhere to good use. I have the money to overpay from a USA vendor but choose not to do so, on this particular item for a 20 year old SUV, as I try to keep her AHC up and running in this rust belt.
Still processing on impex order page, Japanese holiday is over today so maybe status will update.

I received the order, ultimately delivered by DHL, which was correct oem globes. Very happy!

Any more details, such as how long the order took start to finish, shipping costs, tariff costs, anything unexpected? Thanks

I have been using Impex, Partsouq, Amayama, and Megazip for over 5 years. Here is a quick summary. Note I ALWAYS use DHL if available for all 4

PartSouq - Good pricing
Time: Usually the quickest in my opinion, from order to shipping to getting to your door. Rarely to never get emails about parts being unavailable.
Shipping Costs: Really depends on part weight, shipping from location and if using their new "express" service. Shipping cost is accurate at time of order
Tariff: Since the Tariff, I have not been hit with any cost on my end but I have heard stories of others being hit with cost from UPS/FedEx when the parts arrive stateside
Comments: For big purchases of OEM, 555 or other quality aftermarket I tend to use PartSouq as its the quickest and most convenient with Diagrams

Amayama - Good pricing
Time: 2nd quickest at fulfilling. I will occasionally get an email, that X part is not available.
Shipping Costs: Again depends on part weight, cost is usually accurate
Tariff: Since the Tariff, I have not been hit with any cost on my end but I have heard stories of others being hit with cost from UPS/FedEx when the parts arrive stateside
Comments: I usually use Amayama for smaller parts that I cannot get a hold of anywhere else but I have ordered in big and small batches.

Megazip - OK pricing
Time: Fulfilment speed is the same as Amayama
Shipping Costs: Really depends on part weight and shipping from location
Tariff: Since the Tariff, I have not been hit with any cost on my end but I have heard stories of others being hit with cost from UPS/FedEx when the parts arrive stateside
Comments: I only order 1 or few parts during their 20% off sale

Impex Parts - Great pricing!!!
Time: Fulfilment speed is the slowest of all 4. You need to place the order for the parts, wait for Impex to check if its available, wait for Impex to order it, then wait to arrive at the warehouse, pay to package the order AND THEN it goes out
Shipping Costs: You can estimate cost but will not know the final price until the order arrives. Even once the order arrives and is packaged up you might have to pay a bit more to account for the weight and size.
Tariff: Since the Tariff, I have not been hit with any cost on my end but I have heard stories of others being hit with cost from UPS/FedEx when the parts arrive stateside Update: I have been hit with a Levy. See my next comment below this post
Comments: I love Impex for their good pricing, quality of handling the shipment, and low shipping costs. Sure you do not know the cost to ship upfront but in my experience it has always been reasonable and affordable. I have ordered everything from brake boosters, to AHC globes, to trim pieces and heavier suspension bits.

If a part you paid for is unavailable the money gets released into your Impex account and you can email them to get your refund back to your bank account.

I think everyone just needs to be patient and understand that Impex does not keep parts on hand like the other 3. There is a few weeks wait from order as the parts have to arrive, then packaged and then shipped. Each step requires customer input to approve costs.

There are SOME parts that are actually cheaper stateside when you factor in shipping and handling.

Edited to reflect my recent order this week

Well I have been hit with my first Levy -
All prices are USD
L1 charge - $1.34
L2 charge - $35.85
L3 charge $17.50

I paid a total of $54.69 in fees to get the items stateside so the total I paid is - $129.66 on parts, $27.67 on shipping to the west coast plus $54.69 to DHL.

None of this is Impex's fault. All parts are subject to a 15% tariff from Japan. Scratching my head at the math however because 15% of my purchased part price should be around $20. I wonder if the extra $15 is handling fee by CPB. I believe the L3 charge goes directly to DHL for handling the paperwork.

Regardless, even with these fees it's still cheaper to buy from Japan vs a dealer.
