Quite the turnout Matt! Thanks

Saturday during the monthly meeting, I was asked a number of questions about my bride’s FZJ70 that we recently imported. Once I got home and reflected, I realized that I might not have answered these questions very effectively. Due to this, I will try to better share information on the considerations that the questions seemed to be centered around.

Meshal Al-Mazyad (@Meshal) helped us through every step in buying this truck and getting it transported to the states. Last September, I had the pleasure of meeting Meshal at a TLCA event at Windrock park. In our conversations, I outlined my interests and he immediately inspired my confidence in purchasing a vehicle with his aid.

About Meshal; He is a Saudi Arabian citizen. He attended college in the US, so I would describe him as fluent in spoken and written English. Communication challenges that we encountered were due to my limitations. The common source was I would slip into using slang expressions causing communication ambiguity. Luckily for me, Meshal was very open and clearly honest in his communication with us. This enabled us to work through the communication mis-steps that I caused. Further, Meshal’s open communication and openly honest personality was profoundly important to us (my bride and I) and it was indispensable in working through all the details.

To more clearly outline how Meshal carried us through the process, here are few summary actions that he managed on our behalf

  • He found the truck / inspected-test drove the truck / documented the condition in pictures & video (which he freely discussed with us on multiple occasions so we could make informed choices/decisions)
  • He stepped in as our agent in purchasing the vehicle / functioned as our agent with the Saudi government-officials / again stepped in as transportation agent in shipping the truck to the states
  • We elected to have some cosmetic and general maintenance completed before the truck left the country, he functioned as our agent-project manager with the shop & mechanics that completed this maintenance
  • He did much more because everything went too smoothly (clear indication that Meshal was actively taking care of actions that we were not aware of or appreciating)

If you have specific questions, Meshal is active here on ih8mud so dropping him a PM is an option to open dialog.

I hope this helpful
Larry

@LDowney It was a pleasure with you and your bride. Y'all trusted the process, and that was appreciated. Thank you for all of your kind words. It means a lot; communication with you was smooth, and payment flowed when needed.

This truck was clean already with minor flaws, Larry wanted me to make it as near flawless as I could, so we replaced straps and faded plastics like tail lights, indicators, etc. I am proud of such a LHD, RUST-FREE truck to be driven in my favorite state, which I lived in for about 6 years.

This is the truck before:
