anybody have a junker fj25 chassis laying about? i am looking to buy the cast piece that the front of the rear spring mounts to. also same for the front spring; though this is mild steel and easier to repair/remanufacture than the rear. both pieces or a full set would be fantastic but the rear one is my priority. the cast rear piece seems unique to fj25; though sure it is the same left to right unlike the later. being cast should have survived reasonably intact on an otherwise rotten chassis. is only a small piece; should be easy to post from the USA or elsewhere.

Rolling frames I got.................anything else you could possibly need? Springs maybe?

Not a problem but it would have to wait until I was ready to finish one of them off and haul it for scrap - once they aren't rollers they gotta go. The hangars and bolts are unique to the 25.

thanks, that would be great. keep me in mind. springs would be ideal of course but not worth the shipping i think? my main leaves are intact so guess i can just work from these. certainly keep the bolts with the mounts if you can. never tried to ship from overseas before. i'm in no great rush either; just be nice to have the parts. i have never delved into much early suspension or steering rebuilds yet so not too sure what i can get away with for my 25 parts wise re whats available new/used from later 40 series. i think 25 rear main leaves are different; what about the front? at the minute i'm knee deep in rusty 61 shorty so the 25 is having a spell from spannertime.

I joke about the springs. The rear is different than the 40 fronts the same. If I can save the bolts I will. I used replacement shoulder bolts on one. Get an eyeball on the other stuff to see if you need anything. I'll pm you on the shipping.

Henry, I'll try to cut into this soon. Picked it up and found a bee's nest in a brake drum.

I'll take the hangars off and get a shipping quote. Anything else? Putting the springs and front axle aside all else goes to the scrapper. Anyone else? Prime early 25 here, limited time only....

I believe on the FJ25 it's only one piece that bolts to the frame. FJ40 had the inner section riveted to the frame to support the tub and second section that bolted to that for the running boards. I'll send you a PM oops I meant I'll start a conversation

that would be much appreciated. i will take all 4 pieces if they are available. im about to disappear for a couple weeks but will be in touch when i get back. where are you cruiser nerd? also trying to get some early 40 transmission parts for another project (bare trans housing; the early one) from a mudder in minnessota; it may or may not make sense to ship all as one lot? thanks again

All four, not a problem. Nothing on early 40 tranny parts. I'm in Connecticut. Don't mind sending stuff there for international shipping, less so for collecting stuff here.

Keep in mind the housing for the early three speeds were different RHD/LHD. Unless you have a top shifter you would have to drill the right side for the side shifter and plug the left side. Not sure all the parts can be used on either side. Hate to see you ship something heavy like a case iron transmission housing only to find out you can't use it.

Cancel that, just checked one I could get to easily and appears to have a plug on the right ide making it RHD or LHD.

Well LITP, ours is also LH and no plugs on the right side. That side is not drilled. No plugs here.

:hmm: TO be honest I had to crawl over stuff to get to it and just reached over and felt the other side. Maybe what I thought was a plug was actually just casting and the side that is used got drill at the factory. I have yet to do more that pull the top cover not how the side casting for the shifters attaches if the housing is threaded or nuts are used. Threaded makes more sense than risking nut and washers falling inside.

g'day cruiser nerd i'm back from holidays and catching up on mud. have you managed to get these mounts off yet? whenever you're ready is fine. and no stress about other parts; i can sort this myself in time.

if you could post them, or get a postal quote, and sent me your address i can post you the money in US folding cash. my mate and my nephew just back from the USA so there some green money around. was hoping they could collect my gearbox parts but it didnt work out. they travelled to the USA specifically to attend Bonneville speed week; imagine their disappointment when the event was rained out and cancelled for the first time in about 30 years!

on the gearbox parts the piece i am hoping to ship is the bare alloy transfer housing not the cast gearbox housing. no idea what this will cost to ship. do mudders think this is the same left and right hand drive? i will study this a bit more yet.

Henry, I got your address and took it out of the public forum. Not that anyone would just be dropping in on you unannounced.................

I should get around to breaking a frame this weekend, still need to choose which one. Scored a free set of torches with full bottles this week so that helps.:wrench:

The transfer housing should be the same, I can't picture anything that would differ for LHD. Linkages didn't mate to the housing itself. I'll put the stuff together and figure out the postage. Salt flats in the rain..................that would be a mess.
