You have a few good points there.....

Should we brew beer this weekend too? Anybody want to learn?

Either wrench or brew beer, you guys have way too much to do to get both done. Have you been reading this thread? :D

Just make sure I get him back by Sunday for Easter!

you don't need doors to drive, start or license a truck..

And just because you have doors doesn't mean the rig in your garage will start and run.....:meh: (Pointing at Erik).

taskmaster!

and i agree, that can be a different weekend where we do doors..

Ok, push the doors out.

I received the 80' series wheel bearings yesterday and three sets of marlin heavy duty inner seals for ya Erik!

Also have a batch of beer to brew.

I will have $ for you. Sweet. I'm picking up brake booster adapters from Sage this week, Kelly has seals for me, Wejub has desmog plates for me.. it's like christmas.

I still want to do the plates, but will put my bumper to the back burner. I took Sage tonight to look at a replacement frame for his mini. We are picking that up off an '85 4Runner, and I'm getting an xtra cab body for him also. So I will be spending my time putting a patch in the one questionable spot on this frame, moving the bed mounts over, and swapping the running gear on his truck. So between Erik's firewall project and Sage's frame/body swap, I think I'm going to have to find a semi to haul all the toys over there, but we've got some good projects lined up.

MOre the merrier at the "event" :)

Acadia - absolutely, all members welcome. (heck, I have not paid my $10 this year, so I better join)

I cut up a 4 runner frame last year that was in great shape.... oops. I will call and see if it is still sitting in the field in St. Joe.... do you think that it would allow you to have good patches???

Colin thinks patches can be obtained from current frame and grafted into new but we'll get a thread going soon on Sage's build. With or without him..

Gotcha Erik.

Oh, Colin, I will order the powder this weekend.

To give you an idea of the size of area I'm talking about.

I wouldn't bother cutting a patch from the old frame - just get a piece of plate stock from metal by the foot and graft it on. Grind/trim it to your liking and weld it up. Make sure you clean the frame completely underneath the patch and weld it completely so there won't be a chance of moisture wicking in and starting the rusting process all over again.

IIRC that's where the full tank hits the frame and is notorious for creating the damage you see.

Any thoughts of sandblasting the frame while you have it off the truck? Sure would be a good opportunity to see what else is questionable.

Anyone have suggestions on the grease for the knuckles? Where to buy, etc? I know the FSM says molybdenum disulphide lithium. I need some grease for my gun, so would be good to get a case of tubes, I guess. I think I read someone say it requires about 2 lbs per side?

Also needing to get some decent tall jack stands - was going to go with Craftsman Tall Jack Stands. Advice always welcome!

I have a set of Harbor Freight heavy duty stands that work great.

On grease, Erik had me buy some disk brake grease. I bought a 5 lb tub on Amazon. Actually, I need some more, so let me know if you get other advice on what to buy. I wonder if an 80' takes different grease?

The option Erik and I discussed was to just take plasma and cut out that whole section of inner rail and weld back in new steel to replace it all.

Possibly going to blast it that weekend, at least spots, maybe not whole thing.
