Wrapping my LC in Satin White Pearl

Also it depends on where the car is parked. I had some wraps that were 5 years old and still looked good but they were kept in a garage. Another thing to consider is if you use adhesion promoter or not

I have a '68 Volvo that needs paint and was inspired by this thread to consider wrapping instead. Just got off the phone with the regional Fellers rep who told me that the warranty information provided with the Avery (or any other brand) wrap is, in her actual words, "a bunch of bull." Apparently the 10 or 12 year warranties that some of the wraps carry only apply while the wrap is still on the roll. Once it's actually applied to the car there's no warranty at all on horizontal surfaces (e.g. hoods and roofs) and never more than two years on vertical surfaces (e.g doors). She said she'd just taken the wrap off her own car because after two years it was starting to look shabby and pulling up on the corners here and there. She'll have it done again because she sells the stuff but said it's in no way equal to paint as a long-term solution.

I was astonished by her candor - she couldn't have done a better job of talking me out of wrapping my car if she'd tried. I hope those who have already undertaken this project have better results than she describes.

Good info!

After painting the 55 and the 40, I would still be willing to try wrap on my little Civic. Paint is just such a major undertaking - to do it right.

@FxFormat What tails lights do you have on the cruiser?

Oh nice.. I am looking for some LED ones but dont really want to MOD them.

By modding i just masked the surrounding area and sprayed transparent red film on it. Not very difficult to do.

It comes like this

browse around my posts in this tread you'll see when i masked it and sprayed it.

After about a year, how has this been holding up?

Still looking great! Only bad thing is I pinstriped it on this narrow trail, you can see it if you look at it at an angle. If this was paint I could’ve wet sand and buffed it out but vinyl you cannot. Also bird droppings can really stain it if you don’t clean it up right away, I had what seems like a pterodactyl took a purplish dump on the hood and it scrubbed forever to get it out.

Awesome! I'd say thats pretty solid. This is on my to do list.

It's been yet another year. How it holding up? Would you do again?

@FxFormat 😀
Did I zoom scroll past your post-wrap photo shoot?? It’s been a few years now, wondering how the wrap has held up? I’m debating this option as well, but my FJ62 spends its days outside in the So Cal sun, and I’m somewhat close to freeway exchange so usually within a day, my cars get a light “soot” film. Wondering how vinyl would hold up here. Also, I don’t mind tiny dings and dents, but putting effort into surface rust repair and priming. Wondering how the wrap would look over a tiny ding or dent?? Thanks for the informative post and the pics. Would love an update. 🍻🍺

It depends on what color you choose, flat white will get dirty quick and it's really hard to clean...honestly going back on it, i probably wouldnt wrap it again, too much work and the material is expensive as hell too. It looks good for the first year then after that dirt and bird poop stains get embedded, the truck is at my other house when i go there next time i'll snap some pics.

I’m also wondering how is it after that time. Btw, can you put extra wrap for example clear on the sides to protect against branches?
