This forum is so awesome.

What do you think would be easier to work with and more forgiving of newbie error, Gloss Black or Flat?

Then the question is: DIY or Professional?

Shoot I really have no idea mate, but I’m thinking it’ll be the same, not like paint where some finish lays down easier. Just make sure you get quality vinyls. Stay away from the cheap Chinese stuff, they’ll ruin your paint and bubble/peel over time. I inquired about getting my truck wrapped and the shop wanted 4 grand because of the size. I looked at few cars they did, and tbh mine looks way better. They're a little sloppy at the corners and edges, that's the one spot i look at first when i look at vehicles wrap. After i saw that i decided to just do it on my own and i'm so glad i did, learned new things and it's satisfying knowing it'll be done right.

I'm extremely OCD when it comes to stuff like my cars and computer station, this gives me a chance to show off my home office, not a single cable dangling. :D

Yah, I've just accepted my "custom pin-striping" as a badge of honor. Heck, get 10' away and it still looks great...

But does it turn on though :p

That's awesome work! Home office and wrap.

That is a nice Home Office/Man Cave.
BTW, I don't see any Beer Cans or Chip Baskets :-)

Yes it does :) btw i built the desk myself as well as the watercooled PC. I plan on selling the entire setup and then go HAM on LC mods.

I like the flux capacitor hanging on the wall.

Today we got all 4 doors done, prepping and removing the panels took a lot of time so that's all we could manage today.

Removing door panels were easier than i thought, just a few screws, and popped right out. You'll need to remove the bezel around the door lock, and remove the window switch trim piece and remove the bolt under that. Those two are the hidden things.

Speaker looks like it's in decent shape no? lol it's being replaced as well

Most shop will just wrap around this door handle, the right way to do it is to remove it so you can seat the vinyl under for a cleaner look.

All 4 panels off, door handles off, window trims off. The trims are very tricky to remove, after i took it off i still don't know how it stays on so tight?

One giant piece of vinyl, 12 feet long, we laid it on the length of the car and trimmed off the door area to be used, well on the doors. This is not possible if you are doing it alone.

This is how you wrap around the door edges to prevent lifting, pull the vinyl and use a little heat to contort its shape and wrap it around.

Here's the door after i trimmed off the excess vinyl, blends in really well. This process is tedious but if i open the door and see a wrinkle i'm going to flip s***. So might as well do it right.

First door finished, precision cutting at the trim and shimming it under sucks! I wish i could remove the trim but i heard once you remove it, it's toast...the clips aren't reusable?

Both doors finished, pic is big, click to enlarge and see details, not one spec of dust, not one bubble, wrinkle, imperfection. We learned so much already.

Before and after pic of the wrap, the swirls you see is me sanding down the lumpy paint, the top part was sealed before i applied the vinyl don't worry.

Tomorrow we'll try to finish the rear quarter panel and the hatch. Then gotta reinstall everything and hope i didn't forget how everything goes back.

^^ yah it's kind of annoying taking stuff apart, i just want to wrap it and be done with it. Tomorrow will be the daunting task of wrapping that huge rear quarter panel, i don't have any extra vinyl to waste so if i doesn't work on the first go. I'm pushing the LC into a lake and claim insurance so they'll total it out and cut me a check.

Does anyone know how to remove this rear vent? I try popping it out and it seems like the front part is stuck on something...is it all clips? Is there a hidden bolt somewhere on the back side?

When I'm ready to wrap mine, how much?

Finished wrapping today, the two rear quarter panels are awful to wrap, piece is so big that a couple dirt particles got underneath the vinyl. Nothing we can do, overall very happy with how it turned out. It's like having a new 100 series, fresh exterior and retrofit headlights. Sorry truck is very dirt right now from all the prepping and work, i'll get my DSLR and do a full photoshoot in bright light and show you guys the color.
