considering your avatar...

it may help you float.;)

No wood mods yet, but I am going to seriously consider making something for the headliner (since I do not have one). Wonder if anyone has made a "woody" panel style yet...

Hi All:

Oh! At first I thought the thread was titled "Worst mods on a FJ4x" !! :D

I like it. Would have looked better if it was on a black cruiser though. Amazing woodwork though. The gauge trim is kind of cool. Wonder if they used a duplicator to make it. I have a pic somewhere at work of a cruiser with wood half doors and a tailgate.

I've built more furniture than I care to remember and I have to say thats pathetic......Just my opinion but I would cry myself to sleep at night If I owned that.......
I could live with Johnny's shelf but the Red Riding Wood is horrid.....

too much of a good thing

like the steering wheel and maybe the dash but it is a little overdone for me. But if you love working with wood and made it your own thing as a keeper--more power to you.

I remember seeing a pic of an FJ40 at a Land Cruiser beach festival in California that had doors completely made from wood. Reminded me of something you'd see in an early 1960's beach movie. I saved the pic, but I can't find it now. (Must be Murphy's Law or something.)

I am guessing faux wood paint effect.

faux finishes, painted furniture, faux wood, faux marble, faux stone, fake finishes, paint effects, fake wood

Pine door second from the end made me look up at our living room door to check it was there. I would guess ours is same age as the house, 120 or so years, of course when new in the 1880's it was stained a dark brown then it was painted white, then bright yellow '70s? and then cream, still remember stripping the colors off. Now it looks like a fake pine door, wife wanted to paint it again but she waxed it so that's it as far as I am concerned, no way am I trying to strip wax, :bang:.

off subj

no way am I trying to strip wax, :bang:.

off subject I know but we stripped many layers of paint and wallpaper off beaded paneling in an old farmhouse dinging room finished it and stood back and :princess: didnt like it ---then painted it:bang:

got to love it:cheers:

The red cruiser reminds me of a funeral casket.

:hhmm: Quite good for us oldies I suppose.

Actually I'm starting to prefer the idea of being burried in my cruiser rather than passing it on to one of my lazy offspring. (They never do the damn dishes!)

So it's not that silly!

Had a buddy in the mid 80's that had a 40 with Koa vanier tub quarters. He did a beautiful job. Course koa when used to good effect is very impressive!
Not for my rig but as a master craftsman, he was quite pleased
