Wiring harness replacement

Has anyone ever replaced a wiring harness before? If so, any tips on brands and where to purchase?

Painless makes a good harness.

I'll second painless............ but to be honest this isn't a fun job; while a 40's harness is fairly simple I understand it is quite a hassle.

I am still in the process of finishing up a new kwik wire harness in my 1978 fj40. While it is not fun, it can be done and the guy helping me knows his stuff so I would not be able to do it without him. We have added wires and removed some all along the way. Made up some harness to add in along the way. One for the alternator to the regulator and windshield wipers come to mind. Turn signals and hazards are another area where we added wire to make them work correctly.

One of the guys in our Bronco club in Charleston got one of the universal kits on Ebay. I was pretty impressed with it especially considering I think he paid under $150.
