This is the clearance between the front axle and bumpstop on my '76 resting on level ground. I think everything is stock. Looks tight, huh? It's maybe an inch, if that. I don't mind having an excuse to buy new parts :).

I would say its time for some new parts.

Not feeling like starting another thread. Can anyone identify this piece? Came with the rig in a box of extras. I was hoping it was the missing driver's side defrost duct, but I guess that needs an oval end.

Heater duct hose on my 1979 truck. It comes out the left side of the heater box, by the pull down lever for the heat and defrost.
It would be to the right of the drivers knee.

Yeah, that's the duct I'm missing, and I was hoping this was the missing duct. But nope.

Time for airbags...
About 800 per axle. :)

What about some of those old-school coilover shocks? They'll give a little boost, and make it a little harder to hit the bumpstops. I think they were called Swayaway.
