Also, for curiosity sake, I threw the OEM wheel and stock tire on the shipping scale yesterday just to see how much of a gain in unsprung weight I actually added with the new wheels and tires.....Suprisingly, the stock wheel and pretty much worn tire came in at 69.5 lbs. I really thought it would have been less than that. The new wheels are 31 lbs, new tires are 66 lbs, so 97 total, a gain of 27.5 lbs per corner. I'm okay with that and don't feel much of a hit on the ol buttometer in acceleration. Will be interested to see how the gas mpg's gets effected.

Do you think the front spacers were imperative? Trying to understand how different it would really look without them?

I'm days away from installing the ome lift and now i have an additional caveat to consider. Just want to get it right.

It looks really awesome!! Very awesome!

It would look about 1/2" lower in the front :D

If ya wanna roll a 18x9 with 20 or 25mm offset and that tire size, I would say yes roll the spacers or bigger bump stops, it's that close, without them you could rip a fender out! just my 2 cents... this pic is before front spacers...

Nice work - great looking rig.....and a nice stable of vehicles!

How much, what areas of the front wheel well plastic did you trim?
Awesome rig. I am considering the same tire size.

Awesome rig. I am considering the same tire size.

1) The small front mudflap on the rear side of the tire was removed. A couple of inches of the plastic wheel well liner was trimmed near the wing of the body mount.

2) On the front area of the wheel (front bumper), there is some type of mini looking square mud flap (about 2" x 3") right in the center that is bolted on to the plastic wheel well. This was the hitting point, so I removed that, and I removed a portion of that center rib of the wheel well liner near it. There is a small metal brace (about 3") that holds that mini flap to the wheel well behind it, it's just attached to the plastic liner by two plastic rivets, that was removed as well. *I believe with the replacement of the bumper to an ARB or TJM this would eliminate this particular rubbing area.

Took my about 20 minutes going in and out of my driveway/gutter, flexing in different positions to get the rubbing areas trimmed.

Always been curious what they were trying to accomplish with those itty bitty "flaps" in front of the front tires...

I think someone once mentioned it helps create a disruption in airflow which helps cool the breaks... Could be wrong?

Hmm. Seems a little far-fetched, but who knows...? Would be interesting to see it in the wind tunnel.

Once the front bumper is replaced it won't matter...but still curious.

They're just mudflaps for going in reverse.

Oh drats! I knew I shouldn't have cut those off! Hope my wife doesn't mind the replacements, which should be beautifully displayed towards the front! :p

Well, it's been a tick over a month now and my wife and I just returned from a 2400 mile road trip to Banff, Alberta in the 200. Just wanted to update on the tires as some may (or may not) be curious. All is well and they are behaving rather nicely. Still very quiet down the road and we had a chance to test them in some highway rain over the week in Canada, they handled very nicely. Wheels and tire combo handled nice and true during 90 mph sections on our trip.

Not really "mods" per se, but here's a few of the Land Cruiser shots from our trip:

Oh, and after so many years i finally broke down and bought a damn fridge from Cruiser Outfitters (which most 200 owners need to do since the box is plastered with 200s!!!) :-)

Nice pics WildyOats! I'm also considering the same wheel and tire set-up that you have. Do you know if there is any rubbing on the fenders under full compression? Also, how are you handling the spare tire, are you running a size that is similar in diameter as the rest of the tires? Just curious, someone slashed a tire on my cruiser last night which is expediting my upgrade path. Thanks in advance!

No issues on rubbing yet that I have seen. Check out post #20 for the spare tire resolution I went with. :-)

Outstanding! Thanks for the response. Next time I'll do a better job of reading the whole thread lol. Awesome rig btw
