POST YOUR WILD WHEELING PICS HERE (100-series)

OK folks....the 80 forum has had this thread for a while. We've seen killer stuff there. We have a 100-series picture thread ourselves though we don't have one that focuses on "wild wheeling"....SO....LET'S DO IT!

Post your picture AND from where it was taken.

Here's one of my climbs from the left side of Three Feathers on the Chiva Falls Trail. As I climbed inch-by-inch I rocked on and off my PS slider against the rock. It was the rock and slider that kept me from going over. That last picture shows how tall a climb this was. The crack alone I stradled is about 5 feet deep as is the ledge on the right side. I won't do this again in this truck.

good idea, if a bit redundant with the earlier pic thread
keep it clean of blabber (hint hint for the last 3 posters) and focus on wild stuff and I may sticky it up there... :)

Here's a picture from that trip that Shots went out with Christo to show him how its done.

Oh yea, that never happened.

Sorry couldn't resist. :flipoff2:

Rod Seagel of the AzLCA up-sized from his classic FJ40 to a 100-series about a year ago. Since, Rod luvs his 100. We first met-up on the trail at Pyeatte Draw which is a very difficult run in Northern AZ. Rod did great until the weakness of the 98 and 99 model years showed up....a blown front diff. Rod and I spoke then and he decided instantly to make some additional upgrades to his 100. These upgrades basically turned his '99 into a clone of my 2001 UZJ. Well, in May of 2007 Rod made the aggressive choice. He joined us on a run through Southern AZ's Charouleau Gap Trail. I had not been through the entire trail in my 100 due to severe brush in places. Rod didn't mind so along he came. The big question was...."would he attempt the very difficult 4.0-rated "Step" in his luxo-Cruiser? Well, Rod gave it a go. And it was high-fives all the way. Rod lined up, we gave him a spot, and up he went. His 3" lifted 100-series made just as easy a task as the other three FZJ80's to also climb it that day (4-6" lifts on those). So, congrats Rod.

...I'd have to have a full roll cage inside that cabin to feel comfy doing that...anybody ever roll one?

Cool pix.

Who's Dieter?

John,

Nothing I've seen here is difficult. Outer Limits at The Hammers is difficult. Winch Hill 3 at Fordyce is difficult. Old Sluice at Rubicon is difficult. Difficult is what s***-beat minitrucks are for. A built 100 is for driving 900 miles of pavement to Moab, wheeling some nice mild 4+ trails, then driving 900 miles back home again all without skiping a beat or spilling your latte. Just trying to keep the "difficult" scale in perspective.

Concur Brett. Plus, I know photos lie, but even if that climb is as hard as described, it's all open terrain. No VW-sized boulders on either side, or sheer rock wall on one side with a sheer drop on the other, you could slip sideways on that climb all day long and not miss a beat. Long wheelbase makes it pretty easy anyway.

I still think "wild-wheeling" and "100 Series" don't belong in the same sentence.

BTW Brett, one of these days we need to try Mix Canyon in Vacaville. It's a new private park owned by a friend of a friend. Now THAT is wild wheeling. Beat Heep buggies regularly roll BAD there, and the other weekend some guy got hospitalized. He still doesn't remember the roll...

I'm glad somebody else said something about this obstacle. I stared at the pics for hours trying to see where the "difficult" part was.

Trail ratings and trail descriptions can be relative. All the books and sites state just what I have. You're entitled to your opinions too, though no matter what you say about Rod's climb, it has no effect on his accomplishment.

People like to see pics in threads titled "Wild Wheeling Pics."

Shotts, that is two threads in two Tech Sections that you and your pals have screwed up.

Can the commentary. Seriously.

Ahhhhhh.....please re-read who is saying what in this thread. Thanks.

Thanks to everyone who posted REAL pictures of their 100s. It is nice to see the trail capabilities of these vehicles.

Shotts,

Thanks for taking the initiative to get this going, and for your true OFF ROAD perspective.
