Hold my beer...A week in Owens valley, a week in Death Valley, and about a week to make it back home.

It sucks. Don’t go.Wow, and I've seen none of it. Looks incredible.

We're going to see rocks. I hope you like rocks. All the rocks in the world are in Death Valley. Rocks, rocks and more rocks.Any list of places we are planning to see or stay? My brain is screaming "Are we there yet"?![]()
And when you get bored of the rocks, there’s always washboard! We're going to see rocks. I hope you like rocks. All the rocks in the world are in Death Valley. Rocks, rocks and more rocks.
It sure seems that way anyway.
I'm gonna hit the sack right now, but I'll try and throw out some ideas later.

That pretty much sums it up.I’m planning on cruising down with @landcrshr on Saturday and getting to Ballarat Sunday morning for the meet up. I want to spend Sunday night in Butte Valley, maybe check out Barker Ranch on the way in. Spend all or most of Monday exploring Butte Valley and hike the Butte. Exit through Warm Springs. After that, it’s all TBD.

Are you guys sure? On our first trip to DV we camp by the Saline valley hot springs and saw a few naked people walking around. And when you get bored of the rocks, there’s always washboard!

What, that homeless camp with the hippies and the hepatitis? Eew.Are you guys sure? On our first trip to DV we camp by the Saline valley hot springs and saw a few naked people walking around.
Yeah, I’m sorry I never got to see the ranch before it burned but I’ve never checked it out so I figure it’s worth a stop. Butte valley is one of the prettiest IMO so I’m excited to spend some time there. That pretty much sums it up.
I figured peeps might want to check out Barker Ranch. It's not the same since it the cabin burned, but it's still cool to wander around the place.
Here's a couple of pics of what it used to look like.

You can easily spend a whole day exploring Butte Valley. I just like hiking around and getting different perspectives of the place.

You never know what you'll come across.

And there's also a 4th cabin in the area if you know where to look.

I just realized I’m going to be the youngest old man on this trip! Whether they want to or not my knees are going to carry me to the top of that butte! I always end up trying to do too much on these trips and end up in the truck all day long. Im going to make an effort to stretch my legs more this trip. Are you guys sure? @SIZZLE Hiking? I have no problem hiking but my knees might start complaining.![]()
What’s a little hepatitis between friends? I wouldn’t be upset if we made it that far north on this trip. Saline valley is one of the best places in the world to watch the sunrise. What, that homeless camp with the hippies and the hepatitis? Eew.
It's possible, but thinking more of going back after the crowds are gone. What’s a little hepatitis between friends? I wouldn’t be upset if we made it that far north on this trip. Saline valley is one of the best places in the world to watch the sunrise.
I may be the oldest! Indians quarried chert from the top of the butte for arrowheads.I just realized I’m going to be the youngest old man on this trip! Sounds Like I might just fit in with my old kneesI just realized I’m going to be the youngest old man on this trip! I’m all for that. And more hiking. That and maybe Echo canyon? Good mine sites I hear. Or Marble/ Cottonwood canyon.Old-man knees here too, but I got 5 or 6 miles in me. Trekking poles help a lot. Yes they're un-cool, but I really don't have much to loose in that department.
If anyone else is interested in finding the petroglyphs in Greenwater Valley, I think they're only a mile or so from the road. And if we find ourselves at the Racetrack @SIZZLE , maybe we can finish that hike up Ubehebe peak.
