Wow, and I've seen none of it. Looks incredible.

A week in Owens valley, a week in Death Valley, and about a week to make it back home.

Hold my beer...

A week at my stoner friend's house outside of Tucson, a week mountain biking in Phoenix and Sedona, a week to get to Vegas around the north rim, a couple days in Vegas eating and drinking, a few days to cover the Mojave Road...

Four weeks and counting....

Any list of places we are planning to see or stay? My brain is screaming "Are we there yet"?

We're going to see rocks. I hope you like rocks. All the rocks in the world are in Death Valley. Rocks, rocks and more rocks.

It sure seems that way anyway.

I'm gonna hit the sack right now, but I'll try and throw out some ideas later.

And when you get bored of the rocks, there’s always washboard!

I’m planning on cruising down with @landcrshr on Saturday and getting to Ballarat Sunday morning for the meet up. I want to spend Sunday night in Butte Valley, maybe check out Barker Ranch on the way in. Spend all or most of Monday exploring Butte Valley and hike the Butte. Exit through Warm Springs. After that, it’s all TBD.

That pretty much sums it up.

I figured peeps might want to check out Barker Ranch. It's not the same since it the cabin burned, but it's still cool to wander around the place.
Here's a couple of pics of what it used to look like.

You can easily spend a whole day exploring Butte Valley. I just like hiking around and getting different perspectives of the place.

You never know what you'll come across.

And there's also a 4th cabin in the area if you know where to look.

Are you guys sure? On our first trip to DV we camp by the Saline valley hot springs and saw a few naked people walking around.:rofl:
@SIZZLE Hiking? I have no problem hiking but my knees might start complaining.

What, that homeless camp with the hippies and the hepatitis? Eew.

Yeah, I’m sorry I never got to see the ranch before it burned but I’ve never checked it out so I figure it’s worth a stop. Butte valley is one of the prettiest IMO so I’m excited to spend some time there.

I just realized I’m going to be the youngest old man on this trip! Whether they want to or not my knees are going to carry me to the top of that butte! I always end up trying to do too much on these trips and end up in the truck all day long. Im going to make an effort to stretch my legs more this trip.

What’s a little hepatitis between friends? I wouldn’t be upset if we made it that far north on this trip. Saline valley is one of the best places in the world to watch the sunrise.

Deleted nonsense. May fill in later.

It's possible, but thinking more of going back after the crowds are gone.

I may be the oldest! Indians quarried chert from the top of the butte for arrowheads.

I’m totally up for hikes. Better to see more stuff.

Old-man knees here too, but I got 5 or 6 miles in me. Trekking poles help a lot. Yes they're un-cool, but I really don't have much to loose in that department.

If anyone else is interested in finding the petroglyphs in Greenwater Valley, I think they're only a mile or so from the road. And if we find ourselves at the Racetrack @SIZZLE , maybe we can finish that hike up Ubehebe peak.

I’m all for that. And more hiking. That and maybe Echo canyon? Good mine sites I hear. Or Marble/ Cottonwood canyon.

The short-timers or anyone else might want to peel off at some point, 4/4-4/5, and do some of the more “regular” sightseeing. And that’s a good area to jump off. It’s sort of near pavement. There’s just so much to see. Everywhere.

My plan, such as it is: I have to be home no later than 4/10.
