Hi all,

This has always been a backburner problem for me. Off the power steering reservoir there is a clip that connects one wire. And it is an important one. It is the B+ lead that powers the ECU. For the 8 years I have owned my truck it has always looked a little sketchy. It is now at this point I need to replace it. The connector is broken and the wire looks pretty mangled/stretched. A couple times on wheeling trips and long dirt road travels it has loosened up and resulted in a crank/no start. Luckily I know this has been an weak link on my truck and a simple firm press has always gotten me going again.

I have looked pretty hard online and had no success finding a part number for that connector or wire. Has anyone else run into this? It could be my imagination, but I believe when I replaced the wiring harness on my truck a few years ago, the upper part of the connector was replaced along with the wiring. The bottom part of the connector and wire have never been touched.

Thanks

You could try Ballinger Motorsports. I've purchased connectors and pins from them in the past. I've also had decent luck buying factory connectors, and sometimes pigtails, albeit at a premium price tag.

Alternatively, you could switch to a different connector style. I use Deutsch connectors a lot for accessories.

That is connector EB1. It is the load side of the EFI main relay. Without that, you have a 6000 lb paperweight.
Both halves plus the 2 pins with pigtails runs about $38 from a Toyota dealer.

I'm pretty sure I have the pins, we could just de-pin and then do it with new pins. Hit me up next time your'e in town, if you can wait that long.
I also have the wire wrap you need to replace there too.

Would it make a difference to splice in a spade connector? $35 vs $1.50? Add a little extra wire so it’s not under tension like the stock one..

A good waterproof connection is a good waterproof connection. It's your truck and your choice.

Wow, thank you for all of the responses. This has been a huge help. I ended up ordering the Connector plug kit from Ballenger that includes the following: Connector Plug Kit that includes terminals and seals for $16 that can be found at this link:

I then ordered the Male connector from Stevenson Toyota. I did not find it on Ballenger. After shipping it came out to $30 after shipping and the link is here:

Thank you again for all the responses.
